CHAPTER-6 SHADOW WOLF

This time Kai take a level two mission of gathering blue jasper grass from the golden wood forest that located little east of the academy.

Kai didn't waste anytime and fly to the outside the forest. When he reached  the forest's outer area, he stopped flying and proceed to walk, flying in the forest is equal to making yourself a moving target for soul beasts.

He walk little in the forest before changing his direction and searching periphery as this is just a level two mission, it is not so dangerous.

The reason Kai chosed this mission is because he is just too familiar with blue Jasper grass. It is a special grass that is very beneficial for elemental type soul masters.

After a while Kai reached a place with very dense grass, blue Jasper grass itself is not big but it only grows among big and dense grass. Actually grass around it grows bigger than normal because of its presence which boost their growth and this make it trouble some to find among these green grass.

Kai didn't hastily start to search for it, instead he seat down cross legged in middle of the dense grass. As he sat there Kai also released his Martial Soul as three white soul rings appeared over him.

Next moment all the three rings shone brightly as thin fog released from them and quickly covered the large area around 'Fog Detection' a special search type skill that he learned from his mother, but he was only able to use it recently after the awakening of his second water element.

The fog slowly spread on the grass in fifty meter radius around him, after few minutes the fog dissipated as Kai slowly open his eyes. He stood up and walk around as he occasionally pull out some grasses, and all of them are dark blue.

In just few minutes he collected more than dozen such grasses "These should be enough". According to mission he just need to find ten blue jasper grasses, extra are for himself.

He put the grasses in his storage belt and headed out of the forest. While walking he suddenly hear the noise of footsteps, as a multiple elemental user his abilities have heavy demand on his mantle power and he have stronger mantle strength then normal soul fighter of same rank which also make his senses sharper.
He look toward the direction of footsteps, it was already little dark by this time so it was hard to see but Kai still able to catch a glimpse of a one meter long black shadow who was looking at him with no good intent. As soon as the it realized that its target has saw it, the shadow charged at Kai.

Kai didn't wait for himself to be attacked, he released his Martial Soul and make a quick retreat while a the most simple wind gale which slow down the shadow's charge.

After creating a certain distance he released a small vortex of air from his right palm, the vortex land on the shadow and exploded 'Wind Blast'.

Kai touched at the storage belt and the silver spear appearin his grasp. Only now Kai is able to saw the real picture of the shadow, it was a black wolf with a golden line on its back which extend from its head to the end of its tail.

It is a Shadow Wolf a dark type soul beast 'a shadow wolf, it should be over forty years old' Kai though.

Soul beast are animals who can use soul power just like soul users among humans. But there is a slide different, among animals as long as they can live upto ten years they will turn into a soul beast equal to human's level ten soul trainee.

A soul beast's cultivation is call his age and equally its age is its cultivation. Usually a fifty year old soul beast even a weak one is equal to a three ringed soul fighter, while hundred year one is equal to a soul master, those over two hundred fifty are equal to a soul sage and five hundred year old is equal to a soul saint and are call saint beast.

It is only a rough estimation of their soul power but just like Martial Souls there are many kinds of different soul beast of different tier who has completely different strength, better species produce stronger soul beast.

High tier soul beast even has a huge advantages over human soul users. Just like even a five ringed soul master with top tier Martial Soul would never want to face a real hundred years old dragon soul beast.

Even though shadow wolf is not a high tier soul beast it is still one of the strongest among mid tier. A normal three ringed soul fighter with same class of Martial Soul as it might not be able to beat a forty year shadow wolf.

Of course Kai is different, there are four different tier in Martial Souls, low tier, middle tier, high tier and top tier. Even though Kai's Martial Soul is not strong among high tier but it is still above middle tier and Kai himself is much more skill than a normal soul fighter.

The wolf who has just forced on the ground by wind blast, stood up and again charge at Kai.

Kai didn't hastily attack him because he know how agile shadow wolf are his attack might not even hit it instead he let it come close as he held his spear diagonally facing ground while his aura sore and cyan blue radiance on his body gather toward the speartip.

In just few seconds the wolf closed the distance and it's body shine with black radiance and its body bloomed as he jump up and attack at Kai. Just at this moment Kai swing the spear upward with full force and a razor shape cyanblue slash was released at the wolf in point blank range, Aqua Wind Slash!.
