The Bridge

Sitwell walks out of a building with Senator Stern.

"Listen, I gotta fly home tonight, cause uh...I got some constituency problem, and I gotta press the flesh." Stern says.

"Any constituent in particular, Mr. Senator?" Sitwell asks.

"Uh...no, not really. Twenty-three, kind of hot. Real hot. You know, wants to be a reporter, I think. I don't know, who listens at that point?"

"Doesn't sound much of a problem to me."

"Really? Cause she's killing my back. Look, this isn't the place to talk about it. This is a nice pin."

"Thank you."

"Come here." Stern says and pulls Sitwell into a hug " Hail, HYDRA."

Stern turns and leaves and Sitwells phone rings. Pierce.

" I need a minute. Bring the car around." Sitwell tells his men before answering the call. "Yes, sir?"

"Agent Sitwell, how was lunch? I hear the crab cakes here are delicious." Sam says on the other line.

"Who is this?"

"The good looking guy in the sunglasses, your ten o'clock." He says as Sitwell looks around and can't find him "Your other ten o'clock. There you go."

Sitwell spots him.

"What do you want?" He asks.

"You're gonna go around the corner, to your right. There's a grey car, two spaces down. You and I are gonna take a ride."

"And why would I do that?"

"Because that tie looks really expensive, and I'd hate to mess it up."

Sitwell looks down at his tie. A red dot. From another rooftop Anne holds a sniper, ready to fire.

Suddenly Sitwell is thrown across the rooftop Anne is located by Steve. Natasha follows behind him.

"Tell me about Zola's algorithm." Steve demands.

"Never heard of it." Sitwell says

"What were you doing on the Lemurian Star?" Anne asks him.

"I was throwing up, I get seasick."

They force him to the edge of the rooftop. Sitwell smiles.

"Is this little display meant to insinuate that you're gonna throw me off the roof? Because it's really not your style, Rogers."

"You're right. It's not. It's hers." Steve says and he and Anne step aside as Natasha kicks Sitwell off of the roof.

" Oh, wait. What about that girl from accounting, Laura...?" Natasha asks.

" Lillian. Lip piercing, right?" Steve asks.

"Yeah." Anne says

"She's cute." Natasha states.

" Yeah, I'm not ready for that." Steve states

Then Sam in his Falcon jet-pack suit with wings flies up holding Sitwell and throws him down at the roof. The three of them walk towards Sitwell and he holds up a hands in fear.

"Zola's algorithm is a program...for choosing Insight's targets!" Sitwell spills.

"What targets?" Steve demands.

"You! A TV anchor in Cairo, the Undersecretary of Defense, a high school valedictorian in Iowa city. Bruce Banner, Stephen Strange, anyone who's a threat to HYDRA! Now, or in the future."

"The Future? How could it know?" Anne asks.

Sitwell simply laughs and says:

"How could it not? The 21st century is a digital book. Zola taught HYDRA how to read it. Your bank records, medical histories, voting patterns, e-mails, phone calls, your damn SAT scores. Zola's algorithm evaluates people's past to predict their future."

"And what then?" Steve asks.

"Oh, my God. Pierce is gonna kill me." Sitwell says, now panicking.

"What then?!" Anne yells

"Then the Insight Helicarriers scratch people off the list. A few million at a time."

The five of them are in a car. Sam driving, Steve in the passengers side, Anne Nat and Sitwell in the back.

"HYDRA doesn't like leaks." Sitwell says.

"So why don't you try sticking a cork in it?" Sam asks.

"Insight's launching in sixteen hours." Natasha states.

"We're cutting it a little bit close here." Anne adds.

"I know. We'll use him to bypass the DNA scans and access the Helicarriers directly." Steve says.

"What?! Are you crazy? That is a terrible, terrible idea-" Sitwell is cut off by the Winter Soldier landing on the car roof, and yanking him out of the car window and into oncoming traffic and killing kim.

The Winter Soldier starts shooting at them until Steve pulls the break handle and he flies off of the car. Another car smashes into the car and pushes them along. The Winter Soldier jumps back onto the car and rips out the steering wheel.

"SHIT!" Sam yells.

Nat starts shooting at him but he jumps onto a vehicle behind them. The car begins to be pulled off of the road Steve grabs the car door.

"HANG ON!" Steve yells and Anne, Natasha, and Sam hang onto him.

Steve breaks off the door and they slide on the street. Hydra agents begin backing up The Winter Soldier and starts shooting at the four of them. They scatter and Natasha shoots him in the eyeglasses causing him to take off his goggles.

"Она у меня. Найди его." The Winter Soldier says and goes after Natasha as the Hydra agents go after Anne, Steve, and Sam who manages to defeat them.

Anne and Nat run from him but he thinks he found them when he hears Natasha's voice from behind a car. He rolls a bomb underneath.

"I make an LZ, twenty-three hundred block of Virginia Avenue. Rendezvous two minutes. Taking fire above and below expressway. Civilians threatened. Repeat, civilians threatened."

They aren't actually there. It's just a voice recording. As the bomb goes off Natasha jumps onto the Winter Soldier and uses a shock device, shocking his arm before running off. He removes the device and recalibrates his arm. He follows her as she runs

"GET OUT OF THE WAY!" Nat yells at civilians. "STAY OUT OF THE WAY!"

She suddenly gets shot in the shoulder and collapses. She looks around and sees him coming for her, ready to shoot again.

Steve jumps in and blocks a punch from him with his shield before kicking him away, followed by blocking a couple of bullets from his gun. The Winter Soldier takes Steve's shield. Anne watches as another Hydra agent comes and starts fighting her. When she defeats him she runs to Steve who had just kicked the Winter Soldier, who rolled, and his face mask off. He stands up and turns around. Anne's heart drops and tears form in her eyes. She's too shocked to say anything.

"Bucky..." Steve breathes.

"Who the hell is Bucky?" He responds and aims his pistol at Steve.

Sam flies in with his wings and kicks Bucky aside. Bucky has a brief look of realization but quickly brushes it aside and aims again, but before he can shoot Natasha uses the grenade launcher he dropped.

"NO!" Anne yells, thinking it would kill him. It begins to snow, but only a little.

He vanishes in the smoke. Sirens sound all around and they are surrounded by Hydra agents led by Rumlow.

"Drop the shield, Cap! On your knees! Get on your knees! Now! Get down! Get down!" Rumlow yells

They hold their hands up. Steve and Anne look at the ground. They take them all into custody.
