"I never understood why niggas act the way they act. They could do you dirty for so long but as soon as you do them the same way, they can't breathe." Milani said. "Men are stupid. Literally the dumbest species I've ever encountered. Zero out of ten, do not recommend dating men."
"I agree." Ocean said nodding while eating another mango from her bowl.
"Heyyyyy." Milani said when Sapphire walked through the front door. "Where have you been? You're all dressed up."
Sapphire set the brown, paper bags on the island with a puzzled look on her face. "Hey...how did y'all get in my house?"
"I have my ways." Milani said. "Now, where have you been?"
"Out running errands." Sapphire said. "Grocery shopping and stuff."
"Period. Don't play with you." Milani said. "Grown woman shit."
"Yeah, but now I'm broke for the rest of the week."
"You're not broke. All of your bills are paid and you have food in your fridge and pantry. Sounds like you're rich to me." Ocean said with a shrug.
"You're right." Sapphire said, sitting down in the chair to remove her heels from her feet. "It's so hot out there, I felt like I was going to faint."
"Girl, you run errands in heels and jeans. I'm scared of you." Milani said.
"Terrified." Ocean co-signed.
"No, originally I was supposed to meet Marcus somewhere. He said he had something to show me and to dress nice so I did. Then afterwards I went and ran errands." Sapphire explained. "It was something for his job, I don't understand all the technology and stuff so it was pretty boring."
"Marcus is just boring." Milani said. "He's so lame. You need a new man asap. Speaking of new men, how are things going with you and that fine man you met at that meeting?"
"It's going okay I guess," Sapphire said. "We don't talk everyday, he's busy with his life and I'm busy with mine."
"Booooo! Skip to the part where y'all fucked already." Milani said.
"Milani," Sapphire removed her sunglasses from her head, "I've never touched that man in an inappropriate manner. We've never kissed, groped, grabbed, nothing. We went on a few dates and then we just went about our lives like normal people."
"Lame." Milani said. "So when's the next date?"
"Our last date was a couple of weeks ago on Friday." Sapphire said. "I haven't spoken to him since then, but I did see him at the thing Marcus told me to go to."
"And?"
Sapphire's face turned red. "He looked so good. He had on this grey suit with a silver Rolex on his wrist. He smelled so good, he kept looking at me. Like every time I happen to look at him he was just staring at me. I just...."
She shook her head.
"Just nasty, who raised you?" Milani questioned.
"Myself." Sapphire said. "And Jackson."
"I'm telling him when I see him." Milani said.
"I don't care. I'm a grown ass woman." Sapphire said. "I can say and do whatever I want."
"Oh, well excuse me then." Milani said. "Where is Marcus anyway?"
"He stayed behind to help Ty'Quan with something he was talking about. I wasn't listening." Sapphire said. "Anyway, I'm starving. I don't know if I want to cook or eat out."
Before Milani could speak, Marcus came through the door undoing his tie.
"Hey." He said. "Hey, Ocean. Hey, Milani."
