For the first night in a long time I slept.

Well, up until the last few moments of the night.

I woke up to Bucky saying my name with a concerned look on his face. I was breathing like I just sprinted a marathon, and my body was shaking intensely. He pulled me close and held on to me not saying a word. You'd think I would be used to this by now.

This isn't the first time he's dealt with my nightmares. Him and Steve have helped me though many mornings. Steve always knew what to say to get me to relax and Bucky didn't ever have to say anything, him just being around me helped.

We sat there for what felt like ages. But I felt safe, and happy. In his arms I felt like nothing could touch me. That was, until we let go of each other.

"Morning doll." He says with a smirk after making sure I was okay and hopping off the bed.

"Morning Buck."

It felt a bit awkward after last night. Partially because the both of us are completely and one hundred percent-

Naked.

I watch as he slides his shorts back on and pulls his shirt on over his muscular body. He catches me staring and smirks. He throws me my clothes and privately let's me get dressed. When I finish I follow him into the kitchen where we grab our stuff and make our way back home.

The morning air was crisp, but it felt good. A while into our walk he grabbed my hand and stopped me from walking. We were standing on the sidewalk of a particularly busy street full of honking cars and bustling people. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small beige box.

"So I got you something..." He says handing me the box. I could tell he was nervous- but exited. "Think if it as a going away gift."

I give him a small and curious smile. I open the box to see a silver necklace with a small pearl pendant. Next to the pendant there's a small flat bead with the letter B engraved on it.

I look up at him with my mouth agape. "Bucky... oh my god... it's beautiful!"

"Really? I'm glad you think so." He said with relief. "It took me weeks to find the perfect one. I've been waiting to give it to you for days!"

"You didn't have to do this!" I say feeling a bit of guilt. He's never had a ton of money and the necklace sure didn't seem to be cheap.

"Yes I did y/n." He began. "Without you I don't know where I would be, so when I'm gone I want you to wear it. Just a little reminder that I'll never leave you. And so you remember that I promise I'll come back to you "

I couldn't even form the words to respond.

He outstretched his had reaching for the necklace. I hand it to him as he walks behind me. He gently puts it around my neck and turns me around. "I hope you know that when I said it last night I meant it. I do love you Y/n. I meant everything last night." He said with a smile.

"I love you too." I say so happy that I can't come up with any other words.

He kisses me passionately once before continuing our walk and heading in to see my aunt and uncle.

"Took you two long enough!" Steve says sarcastically as the two of us make our way though the door. Although I think he is too innocent to even believe the night the two of us had. That's why he acts as if everything were normal.
