The ride back was awkward enough with Loki as our prisoner, but more awkward now that Steves eyes were like daggers towards Thor. I kept my mask on for the flight, as Loki still has yet to see that its me. But its Loki, he has to have a hunch. When we got back to the carrier, Loki was transported to the cell, as the rest of us gathered.
I sit silently between Steve and Natasha at a large table in a mostly empty area. Steve was the one to break the silence with a heavy exhale as he grabs my hand under the table, but making it obvious he did. "Loki is going to drag this out. Thor..." Steve says to the blonde who is slowly pacing about the room. "What's his plan?"
Thor looks at Steve, then to me, and then back to Steve awkwardly before responding. "He has an army. They aren't of Asgard or any world known." He stops pacing and stands before us. "He means to lead them, and they will win him the earth. In return, I suspect, for the tesseract."
"An alien army... from outer space..." Steve says flatly.
Thor scoffs. "Better get used to it."
"So he's building another portal." Bruce says quietly. "That's what he heads Dr. Selvig for."
Thor's shoulders drop. "Selvig? He is a friend of mine."
"Loki has him under some sort of mind control. Along with one of ours." Natasha says getting noticeably flustered by the mention. I can tell that the person Loki took is important to her by the way it bothers her so much.
Steve leans back into his chair. "I want to know why Loki let us take him. It was too easy."
"I agree." I say with a nod.
"I don't think we should be worrying about Loki." Bruce chimes in. "That guys brain is a bag of cats. You can smell the crazy on him."
"I care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard, and he is my brother." Thor says defensively.
Nat looks up at him rolling her eyes. "He killed eighty people in two days."
Thor looks at the rest of us. "He's adopted."
I let out a small laugh at his comment but cover my mouth knowing it isn't the time.
Bruce sighs. "What I want to know is what he wants the Iridium. What does he need the Iridium for?"
"It's a stabilizing agent." I say at the same time as Tony as he walks in beside Phil.
"Now I don't know how on earth you knew that..." He says pointing to me. "But I'm impressed. What does that mean then?" He questions.
I exchange an annoyed look with Steve. "It means that if Loki is building a portal, it wont collapse on itself."
He gives me a mildly impressed look as he walks over to Thor. "No hard feelings, Point Break. You've got a mean swing." He pats him on the arm. "It also means the portal could open as wide and stay open as long as Loki wants." He then walks over to Fury's set of computers, and makes a comment about it to agent Maria Hill. I watch him graze his finger over the edge of one of the computers, and knowing Tony, he probably planted something important. "All he needs is a power source of high-energy density. Something to kick-start the tesseract."
Maria crosses her arms and looks at him doubtfully. "When did you become an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics?"
"Last night." He shrugs. "The Packet, Selvig's notes, the extraction theory papers. Am I the only one who did the reading? I mean besides Y/n who obviously read enough."
