Astoria, my love, my life, my everything,
I'm smiling. Wether or not you are watching me, which I'm sure you are, notice the genuineness of it. Notice my soft eyes, notice my welcoming nature to the next step.
Notice the world slipping beneath my fingers, gliding away from my strong hold.
I've accepted my fate. Everyone needs to. The cold hands of demise reach everybody, we just hope it's sooner rather than later.
I used to want sooner to be here. I longed for this feeling I have now, but now looking upon the memories, that thought has passed.
I think you accepted your death before I have even thought to think of it. You knew your illness since you were a child. You knew that common things weakened you, but you still lived. You thrived, you lived your life fuller than the healthy and capable.
After you died, nothing was left of me. Nothing was left of your love besides memories that seemed foreign. Your touch, smile, eyes, and everything that you were had drifted away into the heavens.
I believed you were gone, but not really.
Nobody ever leaves until they are forgotten. We may be forgotten. But that's okay. As long as it's not by someone we loved, I can accept that.
But I think it's more important that we don't forget ourselves. One mustn't forget what it's like to be human. We are filled with past and future mistakes, we are filled with bright futures that we need to set up ourselves, we must inspire change to the struggling.
But when you are struggling, it's hard to do so. It's hard to see the light, to see the love in a harsh world where some people want you to be more or less than you are. Hearing stories can be inspiring, but that can only go so far.
You have to make your moves, I've found. While living our lives, I've noticed how much pain so many go through. They feel trapped, alone, unsafe, depressed, and anything other than happy or satisfied. To live, you have to know how to love.
You lived, you thrived. You made the most out of every moment you were given, and that's a true great nature. I wish more people could know this - that life needs to be lived, not waiting for something to happen. Sometimes, you need to lose your opportunities. You can't wait on someone to make them for you.
Everyone dies in the end. We all pass, we all mourn, we all wish we could've done this or that.
I hope you are satisfied, Astoria. I hope you passed painlessly. I hope you died with a friendly but sad smile, ready for the next chapter.
Maybe you did, maybe you didn't. It's doesn't matter now. Because you are smiling.
I thought I had that. I thought I had your love for life and opportunity maker ability. I love you and I will never stop, but when you aren't here? That's a different story. I can't just love people; I need to love the world to be happy while living in it.
Through my travels and love in nature, I have learned to love the world. Sure, it is depressing at times, but not everything can be bad.
Now I know you are smiling. You are smiling at the person you love, the person you married, the father to your child, and the person who you have watched go through it all.
Maybe you are crying, also. As my old, shaky hand writes this, tears fall down my worn face. I hope they are tears if joy - the realization of happiness that you will be seeing me soon.
I've missed you, I've missed you like the stars miss the moon, like the clouds miss the sun, like how the tiny yellow flowers miss the rain during times on dryness.
But through the missing, I never stopped loving you. I love you. The stars smile when they saw our fates align. They smiled at the happiness we faced through all the pain. The tiny while dots of gas and dust cheered when our son was born.
They mourned you. They saw your passing, the action of you leaving in your sleep, by my side. They cried, too. They miss their gazer, the one that was finding things about them daily.
I think they liked being a mystery. They loved being apart of the unknown, they loved being in the part of people's minds that was clouded with confusion.
But with you, they liked the knowingness you found. They have longed for it for years, thinking there will be another finder. I hate to tell them, but there's no other Astoria. There will never be another you. Such a sad thing for the newly born. They will never witness your greatness that you showed to me.
They won't witness all of the positive light that you gave me. They won't see the love that you have every single day, and that is unfortunate. I hope that your light leaks off some omg the younger souls. If they even have a fraction of what you have, their world will enlighten more than they will ever ask for.
Just one speck - just one gleam of goodness. Just one glimpse of the light would be enough. Enough for you, me, Scorpius, my parents, Daphne and her husband, and everyone else who got to see you.
I can see the light, Astoria. My eyelids are growing heavy. My breathing is no longer steady. I can no longer finish this, for I know what is coming soon. I am smiling, looking forward to what is next.
This is the world's final glimpse of me. This is the final glimpse of Draco Malfoy.
Love,
Draco
