(Let me know if I miss any)Today was going to be good. It was cold and rainy, but honestly Tubbo preferred that so he wouldn't end up melting in his long and oversized clothes. After an hour or so just lying in bed watching the ceiling fan spin, Tubbo had worked himself an appetite. He forced his head up from his skimpy pillow, the rest of his body followed suit till he was standing next to his small frameless mattress. The first step he took caused his ankles to crack, wincing he stretched as to not cause any more noise than necessary, something Schlatt had always been firm on.
Stumbling through the tight hallway, he passed Dreams room, hearing nothing but breathing he continued down until he reached the apartments little kitchen. With a glance to the front door, speed-walked over to a cupboard already knowing there was nothing in the fridge worth looking at. He opened the main cupboard, not overly surprised to find nothing but an old battery and a half eaten box of noodles. Guess it was going to be one of those days, another quick glance around, Tubbo went over to the little door under the sink, opening it, he quickly moved the back wood bit to reveal a secret food stash him and Dream had made. He would need to tell Dream they would have to restock soon. He grabbed a can of tuna before placing the wood back and shutting the door. Grabbing two plastic forks from the draw he began to walk head back towards Dreams room to share some breakfast.
A crash sounded from outside, Tubbos head snapped up, fear began running through him. It's ok, he told himself, it's probably just another drunk going home. As the lock on the door began turning Tubbo realised it was a drunk going home, a drunk he had the misfortune of calling dad. What's he doing home? It's Tuesday, this is supposed to be the day he's not here. He's never here! Why is he here!
The door swung open and Schlatts big outline could be seen through a shadow on the floor, even the shadow looked pissed. As Schlatts angry eyes met with Tubbos scared ones, he seemed to sober up almost entirely.
"What do think you're doing?" His words were slightly slurred but still easily comprehensible. Though he didn't seem to be waiting for an answer as he just barged through Tubbo, knocking him into the wall on his way towards the kitchen Tubbo had just abandoned. Without giving an answer Tubbo followed. For someone who had drilled the fact they needed to be next to silent into his kids for so long, he sure was loud. His footsteps thumped over and over again, Tubbo winced every time. He threw the cupboard doors open without hesitation, but finding nothing seemed to make him more mad.
"Tubbo," his fury was turned on Tubbo. "where is all the food?" Tubbo looked around helplessly before looking at the floor and muttering,
"We're out of food."
"Speak up." Schlatt took a step forward, "can't hear you very well, must be my ageing ears." Though most people would have heard that as an attempt at a joke, that just made it all the scarier to Tubbo.
"There's none left." His voice was barely above a whisper.
"Come again? I didn't hear." There was a cruel smile plastered on Schlatts face.
"We're out of food." Tubbo said, only a little louder. Schlatt seemed content with that volume however, taking a step back, staring at Tubbo.
"Where did you get your food from?" There was a malice behind those words. One Tubbo had heard too many times to think he could escape what came next. "Don't ignore me you brat! I ask you a question, you reply! Now where did you get the food from!" There was no way Tubbo was sharing the secret stash with Schlatt, he got hit all the time. What's once more?
"It was the last one." His voice was shaky from fear. A look of faked surprise came over Schlatts features.
"The last one? And what made you decide that you deserve it huh!" He was yelling now, and way too close for comfort. "What made you think that your lazy ass should have the last bit of food! You do nothing! You deserve nothing! Give me the food and get out! In fact shouldn't you be at school? No wonder you're so fucked up in the head, get to school now." Tubbo was shaking all over, he quickly turned and headed out before he would be hit. "And drag that stupid brother of yours to school with you! I don't wanna see either of you the rest of the day!"Tubbo was nearly running down the hallway, he made it to Dreams room and quickly opened the door enough for him to slip through before quietly shutting it. He took a deep breath before turning around, the sight he saw made him want to cry out of exhaustion. Dream was having a panic attack. Tubbo wanted to go back to bed and pretend he never woke up. He didn't feel like he could deal with anything today but Dream needed him so he swallowed his thoughts and went forward.
"Dream." He whispered. "Dream it's me, it's Tubbo, your brother." Dream seemed to hear him a little. That was good, it wasn't too severe then. "Dream I'm not gonna hurt you. It's going to be ok, I'm going to help." He shuffled forwards a bit, "Can I touch your hand?" Dream nodded the tiniest bit. Tubbo leant forward and grabbed his had gently before placing it against his chest. "Dream? Can you feel my heart beating?" Another nod. "Ok, breath with me, ready? In." He counted to six in his head, missing the number three. "Out." He counted to nine this time.
After about five minutes of breathing and just sitting Dream looked up at Tubbo.
"I'm sorry Tubs, I didn't mean to be a problem, I thought I heard dad which is stupid because I know it's a Tuesday, he's never home on Tuesday." Tubbo looked over at Dream, slight panic in his eyes.
"He is home, but we're going to school."This is shit. This is so shit. Why is Schlatt home? That means he was yelling at Tubbo? God I'll have to check up on him. I'll do it now.
Dream walked over to Tubbos room, he creaked the door open slightly before slipping inside, he saw tubbo on his bed with his stolen compact mirror in hand and makeup sitting in-front of him. Dream knew what he was doing, he was lightening the bruises on his face so it wouldn't be visible where the stickers didn't cover. Tubbo had always loved stickers, something about them made him happy, so when Ranboo had first put stickers on his face acting like freckles, they stuck, literally. Neither Dream nor Tubbo cared for how society viewed them, they were men. Makeup wasn't for just girls, anyone can use it. Both Dream and Tubbo liked how messy eyeliner looked, though Dreams was quite a bit more prominent, they both wore it. Dream walked over to Tubbo, picking up the eyeliner.
"Are you ok?" He kept doing the eyeliner though as he knew that eye contact was not a strongpoint of Tubbos. "Did he hurt you?"
"No." The answer came fast, almost too fast to be believable. "He just wanted food, which by the way, we need to stash more it's getting low." Tubbo changed the subject. He considered himself an expert at changing the subject, Dream never noticed as his attention span was never that good anyway.
"I'll go out later, I should be getting payed today after work anyway." He finished the liner and smudged it a bit. "And by the way, don't go home tonight, not until your sure I'm there too, go to a playground or the library or something." Tubbo nodded as they got off the bed, Dream smiled as him and Tubbo put on their shoes. Dream put on his signature neon green jumper covered in white smiley faces, Tubbo was already wearing long clothes, it was all he ever wore. Together they quickly slipped out the front door, and headed towards school.A/N
