The sun was shining on the great city of Metropolis, beaming down upon the busiest and second most crime-ridden city in America behind Gotham of course.

Though the days were brighter and the criminals less inclined to insanity, the opposite side of the coin could be possible too. Intelligent criminals could almost be more threatening than psychotic ones. And no one knew that better than Lois Lane.

For years she had been trying to investigate and expose Lex Luthor. But she could only do so much without the necessary evidence. This is what she struggled to do on a daily basis. Perfectly suitable for the DAILY Planet.

However one other daily adventure of hers was trying to understand her coworker Clark Kent. Everyone saw him as a bumbling buffoon. He kept to himself mostly, when he wasn't bumping into people and spilling soda all over himself.

She had always found Clark extremely fascinating. He came from a town that no one had ever heard of before, was taller than everyone in the office and always dressed like he was just returning from Comic Con. He had long black hair, thick rimmed glasses, a sky blue blazer above a Beetlejuice t-shirt, unflattering plaid slacks and even occasionally he wore crocs.

These things obviously never got him the most flattering attention around the office; and Clark knew it. They didn't know but he could hear them. He could always hear them. Even when he tried not to.

But Lois knew he could hear them. Because she knew the truth. Clark Kent was Superman! She'd never told him before but it was obvious. Superman had saved her enough times that it became obvious. The same height, hair, jawline, voice and smell. She could forgive her coworkers for not realizing it. After all, no one would think Superman could be right next to them. But she could, and it amused her.

As Clark walked to the men's restroom, he caught himself looking at Lois Lane. By far the most breath taking woman he'd ever seen. Her hair was black as a night sky through sunglasses and her eyes as blue as an ocean with two suns hovering over it. Her smile was infectious and her teeth blindingly white. She was perfection personified.

She caught Clark staring at her, and as their eyes connected, he felt his body suddenly become very warm before hurriedly rushing towards the restroom.

Lois grinned to herself, seeing that Superman wasn't really the macho guy that he pretended to be. He was a regular guy who watched movies in his apartment. He had the brawn but not the courage, and she found it adorable.

Clark after doing his business, washed his hands and face in the sink. With the coast clear, he removed his glasses and looked at the purple circles beneath his eyes. Night after night, the screams of the innocent haunted his dreams, and each night he strayed out of his window to stop more petty crime. If Batman could do it then he could too.

"You're Superman." He told himself. "You've saved her more times that you can remember. She loves Superman." Then realization hit him like a brick as he admitted to himself painfully:

"But she doesn't love Clark Kent. "

As Clark left the facilities, he found Lois waiting for him outside. He jumped in alarm, genuinely not expecting to see her and kicking himself mentally for not using x-ray vision to see behind the door.

"Oh uh hi L-Lois." He greeted awkwardly. Suddenly being Superman didn't feel like much at all.

"Hi Clark. Whatcha doing?" She asked with a beaming smile that made his heart accelerate like a race car.

"Um just uhhhh..." he started. "Getting back to my desk." He kept his hands in his pockets, shyly bouncing on the heels of his Nike sneakers.

"Man he is REALLY shy. He looks like he came to school and accidentally made a loud noise during a test." She thought to herself.
