Heyya! I'm excited to publish the very first chapter of this book. It is a bit short as I catch up to pace, it'll get longer once the story gains momentum♥️ Constructive Criticism is Welcomed, feel free to guide me on typos or grammar errors(English ain't my first language, so spare me🥹)
Happy Reading!
I woke up to a shrill crying noise of my daughter demanding to be fed. Groggily I woke up and made my way towards her crib,
'Who needs an alarm when a hungry baby cries louder than Iphone's tone' I cooed at her smiling.
Gently scoping her in my arms, I lightly rocked her as I sat on the bed with my 6month old baby and adjusted her to feed. As she quickly latched onto my breast, staring at me with her big dark brown eyes she got from me. As she had her dinner, it didn't take me long to fall asleep breastfeeding her. The calm noise of my feeding baby lulled me straight to a good 20-minute power nap.
Waking up I saw my sweet Ash sleeping while still latching onto me, staring at her in awe for a few moments, I woke her up to burp her and thanked god that she didn't start crying. I placed her carefully to my side, cleaned up and checked the time - '7:00AM'. Doing mental math to see if I can nap for 5 more minutes and figuring out that if I got ready in 15 minutes, I could. Trying my luck, I rested my eyes for 5 more minutes, in hopes of not missing the alarm.
Well into the climax of my subconscious story, my phone went off so I quickly taped the stop button and glanced at Ash to see her make cute angry faces for a while before she went back to sleep. Sighing in relief I got up to made my way to the bathroom, looking at the mirror - I saw a very sleepy version to myself staring back at me. I looked like someone who has a 6 month old child, studies full time and is the sole earner of the house, maybe cause I am. Rubbing my eyes, I freshened up and squeezed out the little annoying remains of my toothpaste, making a mental note to stock them later. Yawning, I left the bathroom to smell the amazing smell of tea leaves boiling in water with some ginger, my mom's ginger tea is the right start to any day, wakes me right up. Checking once again on Ash, I made sure the baby monitor was on and headed down with a soft smile.
'Hey, mom', I greeted her with a kiss on the cheek, 'How much till the tea is ready?' I asked her, checking the clock '7:15AM' - 15minutes to go. I loved doing the usual time scheduling in my head, makes me think I'm in some race, challenging myself each day, well challenge accepted.
'Morning Amelia, 5 more minutes, why don't you get started on your breakfast, I made your favourite', mom replied with a cheery voice, she was such a morning person. I didn't have to ask her, I beamed as I spotted sausages in the bowl. Not waiting any more, I started piling my plate and sitting down to gorge all the deliciousness my mom has cooked. I quickly had breakfast and asked maa to pour the tea in my traveler mug so that I could drink it on the way, I was on a race with myself today. Imagining a heroic background music to my movie, I examined my situation. My hair alone would take 5 whole minutes to look presentable, so I started spraying and managing my wavy less curly hair and quickly changed into my apply bottom jeans and plain white tucked in top. I was feeling the vibe so I put on some red lippy with winged liner and my black converse matching it with my black shoulder bag. I'm nailing the time!
Sipping my tea, I wore my prescribed sunglasses and checked the time 7:30AM, with a satisfactory smile on my face, I imagined myself walking in slo-mo with a cape as my black hair flew with the wind- Challenge Accomplished!
