Alex's POV

I watched as she looked at me, almost as if assessing me. Her dark eyebrows knit together in confusion as her brown eyes constantly moved, she looked as if she was solving an algebra equation in her head. I watched as she stared at me, I kept watching as she froze and almost ran out of the door. Great. Just Great. This was the second time in 24hours that a person has ran away from me, someone I thought was my mate.

Thinking back to yesterday's situation, I slowly looked back to her table and spotted the boy from yesterday. My wolf whimpered from his mate running away, for sure this time. I narrowed my eyes at the guy who looked like he had just witnessed alien invasion.

'You!', I barked at him, my voice blooming in the now silent cafeteria as I stood up and pointed at him. I'm sure at this point the whole area knew I found my mate.

He looked at me as if I've asked for his kidney when the girl - soon to be beta, put her hand on his shoulder. Chloe stood up gracefully and cleared her throat.

'I'll go check on her' she said carefully eyeing me as she left the cafeteria, silently telling me not to follow her. Chloe and I had been training together since our childhood, her being the future Beta and me, the future Alpha, she had my full respect and trust.

I am relieved that she is friends with my mate however it's not common for a human to live in this side of the town, where we rule, but I know of a few families living here for different reasons. I make a mental note to dig into her profile because if I know Chloe, I know that she won't give up information without her friend's consent and I needed to know.

'Take me to her', I demanded from the guy who was now looking anywhere but at me.
'NOW', I said with authority. That ought to get him out of his chair as he directed me out of the cafeteria.

'Well, I don't know where they went... she might have gone to the restroom...' he trailed off nervously.

'How do you know my mate? and you better explain why you were smelling of her so strongly yesterday' I tried to keep my calm. If they were friends with my mate, I needed to be on their good side. But just thinking about how my mate's scent was all over him is making my wolf go all possessive.

'Uhh, we are good friends, and you know.. friends talk..and hug, so like, thats how her scent was all over me...wait, that's why you thought that I...' he trailed off awkwardly.

'Let's not talk about that' I cut him off, embarrassed myself. To think that I thought he was my mate, although I would've accepted my mate no matter what, but for me not to differentiate between a lingering scent and someone's personal scent is a but awkward to talk about. So I just shoved the idea of him being close to my mate aside.

'Aye Aye Captain, don't wanna go through that again, I can't even imagine being your-' my glare quickly shut him up as he realised what he was about to say.

How far is the girls restroom!

'No I mean you're hot and all, and definitely mate material... I'm not gay, I know it doesn't sound like it but you know it's actually quite masculine to admit other man's beauty and-' he rambled until I cut him off as we neared the restroom.

'Would you stop rambling?' I asked, irritated as we waiting outside. I impatiently stared intently at the door separating me from my mate and clenched my jaw.

Pat Tap Pat

He started tapping his foot.
'Are you always this annoying?' I asked, my wolf on the brink of slamming the door down and barging in there. He stopped, thank god.

The quietness was shortlived as literally two minutes later he started whistling some beat.
I guess I'll just have to kill him now.
Just as I turned around to shout at him, the pale grey door to the restroom bursted open.
