"Lavender is crying again. Can you put her to sleep?" Christopher yawns he haven't even opened his eyes yet. It was the third time this night that Lavender woke up. I shake him until he opens his eyes.
"Fine. I will do it." he gets out of bed but this time I follow him no matter how tired I am. I tiptoe to Lavender's room in Christopher's white t-shirt. Her big brown eyes always lights up when she sees her dad. I know she's going to look up to him when she's older.
"Dada." she says when she notices him. She completely stops crying when he picks her up and rocks her. She's not hungry most of the time, she just wants attention.
"You have woken us up three times the night before we go to Paris. You're really excited, aren't you?" he bops her small nose and she lets out a giggle. She soon falls asleep once again and he puts her back to sleep.
We look at her for a few minutes before we head back to our room and fall asleep once again.
Next morning
Lavender looks out at the car window as we drive to the airport. Christopher sits in the front seat and I sit in the back with Lavender. Most babies hate long car rides, she in fact loves them. It's her favorite thing in the entire world expect for going to our nearby park.
"Moo! Moo!" she yells as we past by cows. Sooner enough she falls asleep in the car, she always does. We put her in her beloved pink scroller when we arrive. Her big eyes are still closed but her mouth is wide open. Sometimes a blabble comes out.
Soon later we're on a flight to Paris. This time Christopher fell asleep around half through the flight. He got the window seat which made Lavender really upset until she saw a puppy in a dog carrier.
"Woof!" she tries to get to the puppy but I have to hold her still. She starts crying and suddenly everyone's eyes in the flight are on us. She cries and screams like never before and Christopher soon wakes up. She sits in his lap and soon enough get completely quiet, wow everyone must think i'm the worst mother now.
A flight attendent is fast to give her a juice box which calms her down even more. When we land in Paris, she's quick to be on her feet. She can kinda walk now, but she wabbles around for the most part.
The first place we go to is the restaurant that Christopher proposed to me. We wanted to get married before Lavender turned 1 but right now she's 1 year and 2 months and we're getting married in two months so she'll be about 1 and a half year. She's going to be the flower girl.
"Lavender, what do u want to eat?" Christopher ask her, we know that she can't respond due to her limited vocabulary but we agree it's good practice for her. She looks at the menu on the table even though she can't read.
The waitress walk up to us with two glasses of champane. It reminds me of my fake id days, it's crazy that I'm 19. Christopher take a sip of his champane and looks me in my eyes. He still makes my heart flutter even though we're basically married.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I laugh. He basically just smiles with his shiny teeth and continues staring at me.
"Am I not allowed to look at my fiance?" he laughs with me. He really is the guy for me. I'm so happy that I picked him. I know that I probably say that a lot but I really do. The table that we're sitting at is the same table he proposed. We look out of at the beach, to no surprise there's barely any people there expect for a couple of teens. It is getting dark after all.
"Are you nervous about meeting your parents for the first time in a while?" I hold his hand over the table. I would be nervous if I hadn't seen my parents in ages. He shrugs his shoulders and takes a deep breath.
"I'm not really nervous, they have been begging me to meet Lavender for a while now. It's just weird seeing them again." he picks at his food while talking and bites on his lower lip. I can tell that he's nervous even though he doesn't want to tell me.
"It's time to go, let's go Lavender." Lavender holds my hand and walks with me while Christopher pushes the empty scroller. I know that she's going to be tired in a few minutes, but she's making great progress. A few months ago she couldn't walk and now she can, it's crazy how fast childhood development is at this age.
We drive in our rented car to the house where me and Christopher stayed just outside of Paris. That house is going to make me emotional, so many memories in there. Good and bad but mostly good. We pull up to the drive way and we see his parents stand on the porch and wait for us.
Lavender looks at them like they're strangers. She doesn't know them the way that she knows my parents, they didn't want to be apart of her life in the beginning but now they do so I'm giving them a chance. Plus it will make Christopher happy.
"Is this Lavender? Hi I'm your grandma!" his mom walks up to us and looks at Lavender. Lavender looks confused but waves back to her. Lavender gives his mom a big hug, I think she likes her.
"Let's go inside and talk." his dad says and we walk into the front door. Seeing the living room makes me emotional. There on the couch was where I fell asleep the first night and where me and Christopher cuddled up on the nights.
"We're so happy that you're here, Chris." his mom smiles at us, I can tell that she has missed him. His dad on the other hand doesn't seem to pleased with the situation. His mom lays his hand on her heart and continues smiling.
"I hope you can forgive us. We BOTH want to be apart of your, Daisy's and our grandaughter's life." Christopher looks unsure. I know that he was hurt and has a hard time letting go. He fidgets with his hands and look down on the ground.
"Chris... Are we invited to the wedding at least?" she mumbles.
"It's hard forgiving you but yes you are welcomed to our wedding." he stops looking at the ground and looks at his mom. His mom raises her eyebrows in surprise and almost jumps up and down out of happiness.
