My mom drove us to school the following day. She dropped us right outside the school which probably was a bad idea. Everyone's facial experessions changed from laughter and smiles to shock and horror. Was the idea of us being together really that horrible? Students continued to point and stare as we entered the school.
Madison stood by the entrence. Her jaw dropped to the ground when we walked in. Her eyes widen and she was pale as if she had seen a ghost past right before her eyes. Her heels were loud as she walked towards us.
"Uhm, what is Christopher doing here?" she said in her soft almost child like voice. She crossed her slim arms and raised her eyebrows at us like we were her minions. Her lipgloss sparkled in the sunlight, I could tell that she had packed on a bunch on her smooth lips.
"I guess he lives with me for now." I chuckled, it didn't work at all. She was completely quiet, she didn't even half smile. For a moment I thought I had ruined her day until she started smiling. She had realized that I had stolen her enemies boyfriend.
"Awesome! Can you get me a mint from my purse? I have nails on I can't pick anything up." She handed me her pink valentino purse. The purse was a mess, I really had to dig through it to find the mints. I didn't find any mints instead I found drugs, stuffed in the inbuilt pocket. This wasn't like Madison! She saw me look at drugs and quickly took back the purse.
"I can explain! My parents divorce is really messy and I had to do something! Just to feel better! Just once!" she stumbled over her words and fidgetet with the outside of her purse. Her shoulders were tense and she even faked smile!
"You know I care about you, I don't want you to get add-"
"Enough! I have to get back to class! Bye!" she rushed away from me. Her next class didn't start in another 10 minutes. I know it because no one starts before 8 am. Enough, it wasn't my place to judge, especially not in front of everyone.
Me and Christopher kept walking until Aaron saw us. He walked up to us and shook his head. I knew he was going to rant about something. Probably tell me how much he have done for me. I was just as confused as him. I liked them both!
"Daisy it's time to make a choice." he crossed his arms and looked me directly in the eyes. He had bags underneath his eyes, I could tell that he hadn't slept that night. He never looked that tired. His hair was a mess, and not a beautiful intention mess like Christopher's hair. Christopher had also started staring at me. I wonder what the choice was about?
"Me or him?" he kept looking into my eyes. If only they knew that it wasn't that simple. It wasn't an easy choice at all. It wasn't cats or dogs, summer or winter, cake or cupcakes. It was the difference between "I love you forever and I will never let you go" and "I will risk my entire life for you." It was morning coffee and soft kisses in the mornings or late nights driving with the radio on the highest volume.
It was between someone who made me feel alive for the first time in forever, the father on my child or the person that showed me what love really is and always accepted me no matter what. Between the honors student that moved to my school just for me and the guy that just somehow showed up one day in the garden.
Me or him. It was the most diffcult question a person could answer. It felt like my heart fell and cracked on the clean school floor and broken right into the middle. One part of my heart wanted Christopher and his wonderful adventures forever and the other part wanted comfort and stablity with Aaron. I wish I could look into the future and see what who was the best match but I decided to listen to my heart and my heart ached for one specific person.
"I choose..." I took a deep breath and looked at both their faces. Christopher's ocean eyes that reminded me of summer nights at the ocean and Aaron's honey eyes that reminded me of breakfast in bed and a comfortable life.
"I choose Christopher." Seeing Aaron's facial expression shift quickly from a welcoming warm smile to a lonely puppy left on the street made my heart hurt. I wanted the best for him but I didn't truly love him. Not in the way I love Christopher at least...
"I understand. I wish the best for you two and your relationship." he said as he walked away from me. He knew that he was never coming back, this was the last time ever. Christopher pulled me in closer. So close that I could feel his breath on my neck. He tilted his head and started kissing me like never before.
His hands went around my waist. That's when I knew that this was the right decision.
