DAD(Liam):
"I'm a horrible person." I shouted. Sophie held my arm.
"Help me get her to the car." Kelly yelled. I hated seeing my wife like this. First with Sophie and now Hailey.
We got to the car and the rioters were blocking the quickest way to the hospital. We had to go through the neighborhood and up the back street to get there.
In the waiting room, The doctors told us she was in semi-stable condition. She had severe bruising on her chest and one broken rib. The bullet had hit something else before hitting her. If not, she would be dead.
"It could've been a lot worse. You guys are really lucky. She'll be free to leave in a day or so, but she'll need to take it easy." The doctor advised before he went back to work.
"This is all my fault." I sighed.
"At least she's not dead." Sophie said. She didn't seem to be worried at all.
"Do you even care about your sister? You don't seem to be concerned." I said harshly.
"Yes, I do care. I just bury my feelings deep inside so no one sees them. I didn't think you needed another person freaking out." She yelled before she walked away. Ugh, why couldn't I do anything right?
"Her friends are on their way." The boy said.
"Thanks for the warning. What's your name?" I asked.
"Ben, and it wasn't a warning. They need to know that Hailey wasn't part of this. She can't lose her friends on top of everything else." He yelled. This kid really cared about her.
"Okay. I'll explain everything." I agreed. Kelly ran off to comfort Sophie, so we sat in silence.
"You shouldn't lie to her." Ben said, after a moment. I wasn't in the mood for this kid's opinions.
"I'm protecting her." I said looking up at him. He was pacing the room.
"You're protecting yourself. You knew she was outside, yet you still shot her when she came inside." He was getting on my nerves.
"I thought she was a rioter." I yelled.
"You didn't even think twice. You didn't let that possibility enter your head." He screamed, finally sitting down.
"I-"
"You know what your problem is? You don't think before you act. Now you and everyone else suffers the consequences." Ben interrupted.
"You're right." I realized.
"She could be dead right now." He sat in the chair, shaking his head.
"can you please leave, if that's all you have to say." I asked politely.
"Fuck you. I'm not going anywhere." He said coldly as her friends arrived.
When Rachel and pearl arrived, they were worried.
"Is she okay? What happened?" They were asking Ben everything.
"She'll be fine, but it was really close." He sighed, giving me a dirty look. He gestured for them to talk to me.
"Look, you need to know Hailey wasn't part of this." I said, standing up. I walked them out to our car. I told them everything that they needed to know.
"Holy shit" was written all over their faces and I regretted telling them the truth. Why couldn't I get anything right today?
" what is going to happen now? I mean she is out of the prison and the whole town knows about this." Pearl said. Suddenly Rachel was in command mode,
