The last two periods went by in a breeze and it was finally time to head home, "where's your ride" I asked Brooklyn as she swung her bag across her shoulder. "I like to walk and observe the beauty of what's around me, rather than what's inside my phone" she responded as she walked backwards out the door. I chuckled, grabbed my skateboard, and ran out the door so I could start to head home.
After about a good thirty minutes, I was finally home. I opened the door and saw my dad sitting on the couch like a slob, eating a bag of potato chips, watching television, and drinking an Alexanders Keith's beer. He took one look at me,shouted and said, "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN, YOU LITTLE SHIT"!
I muttered and said I was at school, it was obvious he was drunk. I was used to this behavior though, he's been like this ever since my mom left us. Sometimes he even abuses me, and wrecks our house which is probably why we have so many holes.
"WHY ARE YOU EVEN HOME, I DON'T LOVE YOU AT ALL YOUR JUST A STUPID, IGNORANT KID WHO THINKS HE'S GOOD AT SOMETHING, WHEN IN REALITY YOU SUCK AT EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING YOU DO" my dad continued to shout. I shook my head, and stomped up the stairs until I got to my bedroom, sometimes I just wanted to die.
The next morning I woke up to my phone buzzing due to non stop text messages from Brooklyn. I chuckled, got ready as fast as I could and head to school so I could see her again. Just as I was about to head out the door I saw my dad from the kitchen grab a knife and ask where I was going, I told him I was just going to school which probably angered him more, because he chucked the knife towards my face, but thankfully I shut the door just in time.
I whimpered and rid my skateboard all the way to school, and I didn't look back once as it was clear that he didn't want me back.
I was late to the homeroom, but it doesn't matter cause Brooklyn was there. I rushed to my desk beside hers and hugged her, I was happy to see her. Brooklyn was confused, she asked if I was okay, but I lied and just nodded my head.
