Death Day

The next morning I called Mr Gaulle, I told him to come by and say their last goodbyes, to Brooklyn before she left entirely. Once I hung up, me and Brooklyn ate our yucky hospital food while watching Stranger Things for the last time together on a tiny television. I could tell Brooklyn was upset because she wasn't going to be able to see the world like she and her parents had planned, but at least she was going to see them up in heaven.

Shortly after lunch, Mr Gaulle and the students arrived in our room. They all said goodbye, but they didn't give her "get better soon cards" because she wasn't going to get better. The day seemed to pass like a short weekend, and tomorrow would be her death day.

We did have a lovely sleep but I could hear Brooklyn crying herself to sleep. The next morning I awoke to Brooklyn wrapping a gift, and I asked what it was. She looked at me with teary eyes and handed it to me. "Open it, when I leave and whenever you miss me" she said, "don't say that" I cried. Brooklyn looked deep into my eyes and brushed my curly black locks out of my face. "Lucas, It's going to happen whether you like it or not, but just know that I love you and I always will".

We hugged, and we went out to town that day, and at least tried to do all the things she had on her bucket list, of course we weren't able to. Later that night when she was going to pass away in a few moments, I was too overwhelmed and upset with my fucking life. I was going to lose my best friend, what fucking plan does God have for me?

I left the hospital room and went to the rooftop of the tenth story hospital. I was going to throw myself off the roof and commit suicide once and for all. I was about when I heard a voice call out my name, "LUCAS WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING GET DOWN NOW" Brooklyn screamed at me. I shook my head," I can't lose you I have to do it".

"NO I WANT YOU TO LIVE FOR ME, DON'T DIE NOW PLEASE" she yelled at me with tears in her eyes. I looked at her and said, " I wish I could say the same for you, but I can't say goodbye Brooklyn". Then I jumped, but Brooklyn did too! Brooklyn was before me so she was going to land first, and she was risking her life for me again!

I felt the wind whistle through my ears, and it felt like I was never going to land, but when I did, I landed on Brooklyn. "BROOKLYN ARE YOU OK" I yelled, With a faint voice and all her might she said, " please don't die anymore, I care about you very much, and I will see you soon in heaven when you go too", and those were Brooklyn's last words.

I looked at Brooklyn's lifeless body lying on the ground, and I shouted up to the skies, "I'M GOING TO DO WHAT YOU ASKED BROOKLYN, I'M GOING TO LIVE LIFE FOR YOU, AND STOP KILLING MYSELF!"

Then I picked up her body and walked about a mile home, and had her body created into ashes so that I could dump them in Peggy's Cove, then I opened her gift that she gave me, and it was a video of her saying goodbye to me.
