•Zaya Brown•
I woke up the next morning pretty early. I was surprised. I guess that was ok but I wasn't ready for the boring day ahead of me.
I ate and showered as usual and wore a hoodie and sweatpants. I wasn't going anywhere so I wore something comfy. I opened my curtains to let some light in.
I looked at Zhaye's window and someone had closed it. I started laughing replaying what happened last night but for now, he had to get some rest. I took my computer and started watching movies as usual.
A couple of hours later I started playing my guitar softly not wanting to disturb my mom since she started working from home. I kept on playing for a while longer and looked up to look at the sky.
I looked at Zhaye's window and wondered if he was still sleeping or was he ashamed of himself because of what happened last night. He shouldn't be I mean he was drunk so that is a valid reason I guess.
I was looking for baking recipes for fun because I love baking. So I wanted to bake a chocolate cake. I went downstairs to see if we had everything we needed for the cake.
Luckily we did and I started baking. I got the flour, sugar, eggs, milk, etc. for the cake and started preheating the oven. Once I was done with the dough I tasted it and it tasted good.
I put some dough on the side so I could eat it on its own and put the rest into the oven I was going to give it 30 minutes and see how it was going.
I set a timer on my computer and started cleaning up the mess I created in the kitchen because I didn't want to do it later. Once I was done with that I still had around 10 minutes left.
I then took the dough I left out and started eating it. It tasted so good before I knew the timer rang and I quickly put on my mittens and take out the cake. I wasn't sure if I was to put the icing on it so I didn't.
I cut a piece and decided to bring it up to my mom. I softly knocked on the door. "Come in!" She said. I walked in with the cake on the plate and she smiled at me. "Aww thank you sweetie you are the kindest." I smiled at her and walked out letting her work.
I went back downstairs and took the rest to my room and started eating it while watching something random. At this point, it was almost 8 pm and I haven't heard from Zhaye not that there was a problem but he was the person that was making days fun.
•Zhaye Andrews•
I woke up around 2 pm with a major headache. I don't even remember how I got into my bed. I went downstairs to get something to eat. "Good afternoon mom." "Afternoon how did you sleep?" She asked
"Good but I woke up with a headache." "Hm just get some pain killers and you will be fine don't worry" "ok mom," I said walking to the cabinet and reaching for the medicine. "You left your windows opened last night you could have left mosquitoes in the house."
"I did?" I questioned. "Yes, you did." "Oh, my bad then.." I said grabbing some food from the fridge. Once I finished warming my food I started eating and I was trying to remember what happened during and after the party.
"Oh, shit" I whispered to myself remembering all the events that happened yesterday. The one-night stand, coming home and making Zaya play something on the guitar for me until I fell asleep.
That's when I felt embarrassed that I made her do that. I don't even want to know what she just thinks of me now. Why did I have so many drinks and why is my mom so calm about it.
Because I'm sure she must have noticed something by now. After this, I'm just going to shower and stay in my room. So that is what I did. I slightly opened my curtains to see if Zaya was there and she was playing her guitar as usual.
I watched her for the next 6 seconds and then stopped. Went to my bed and started doing whatever. Before I knew it time had flown and it was almost 8 pm. I had to at least apologize for what happened.
So I mustered up the courage to open the curtains and she was eating a chocolate cake. I instantly wanted some but that was not the point. She somehow saw me quicker than I expected and opened her windows and got her notebook.
"Hey" she started. "Hey.." I said awkwardly she slightly laughed at me. "What?" I said. "Why are you speaking like that?" She wrote. "Well, it's because of what happened last night.."
"Last night was hilarious." She wrote down. "Ha ha ha..." I said, "I have never thought I would see you like that." She wrote. "That's why I want to apologize.. for what happened last night." I started
"No need to," she wrote. "Seriously you should have never seen me like that and I shouldn't have asked you to play some lullaby so I could fall asleep," I said. "Again it's fine plus that little dance you performed for me was the best part of my day."
"And I'm especially sorry for that part too at least you enjoyed some part of it," I told her. "Want a piece of cake?" She offered. "I have an extra plate and I just remembered that chocolate cake is your favorite." She wrote on another page.
"You made it?" I asked and she nodded. "I'll try it," I said and she passed me the piece of cake without dropping it. I took it and took a bite. It was one of the best cakes I have tasted ever. It was really good.
"This thing is delicious!" I said with my mouth half full and she slightly laughed. "Happy you like it." She wrote. "Like? I love it. Seriously this thing is good. Where did you learn how to bake?"
Her smile slowly faded away. I must have hit a nerve. "I'm sorry you don't have to reply if you don't feel like it.." I said. "It's ok I'll tell you it's just a question anyway." She wrote. "My dad thought me he used to make the best cakes I've ever tasted." She wrote.
"Used to" what does that mean? Did he die? I didn't want to ask what had happened to her father because I already hit a nerve asking her one question so I tried to change the subject. "Another piece of cake please?" I asked and she nodded.
I gave her the plate and he took it putting another slice and passing it back. "I could eat this all day long," I said putting another bite in my mouth. She giggled at the way I was staring and the cake.
"You should open your bakery," I said. "You think?" She wrote and I nodded. Once I finished my plate I gave it back and we talked for a little more and closed our windows.
