The Question

His angel finally appeared on screen,

Giving him the answer to where she's been.

His pulse quickened, pupils enlarged,

As he watched the angel perform her work of art.

She was a light in the darkness,

A savior, at its finest.

She showed him a world that

didn't revolve around surveillance.

He's been lured by her movements,

Him! Husband, man of prudence!

His eyes glued to her body,

Moving gracefully, fluidly, above all,

Erotically.

Something that wasn't allowed in his society.

Mesmerized, his vision lingered on the display,

Of the woman who did everything in her own way.

He was lost without her,

His mind a blur.

Though numb was he to the society's restrictions,

He knew he had to approach the woman with caution.

But alas, he couldn't wait no more,

Up from his seat and down the hallway he tore,

Only to find out later in detention camp,

That she was an illusion instead of a vamp.

He sighed in relief,

Shook his head in disbelief,

As he went back to be his honest self.

Away from temptation and ready to delve,

Even deeper into God's embrace and help.

But was it the right thing to do at all?

Listening to prayers and making the call

To blindly follow what the society does?

Lest we forget, in the place that he trusts,

Citizens abiding rules are an absolute must.

Constantly observed, ultimately controlled,

To the point where people subconsciously feel throttled.

It's a dangerous place,

A dark one even.

This society is obviously no man's heaven.

Nobody's a heathen,

In this supposed-to-be haven.

No violence, no mayhem, all men have wives.

Doesn't seem like anybody has to think twice,

To live in this apparent utopian place.

But to be in this paradise,

You'll have to pay the price

For everything you do

Being supervised.

After raising such thought,

Here is the question.

Would you conform,

Or would you stay wise?
