"She's in shock." Summer says leaning her elbows on her knees by the fire," She's not talking or really responding other than looking at her mom and dad."

I was silent before speaking up," Is she in shock or angry?" I look at the fire.

"Might be both."

I hum looking over at the tent where Merle and Mersadies remained arguing. Why? It started with Merle asking where she was to leave their little girl alone. It spiraled from there.

Sophia came over looking like she wanted to puke and Carl looking guilty. They stood silently not saying a word making me worry a bit. Summer tapped my knee getting my attention pointing to the tent. Bambi came walking out now in a tank top she looked at us before glaring at the other two. She storms off calling the dog to come with her.

"Okay wha' happened?" I asked turning to the two kids who had tears or teary eyes.

"W-we didn't want to leave but we were scared." Carl says trying not to cry," W-we were on the way to tell you all about the walkers."

"But, our moms got to us." Sophia whispers tears coming down her cheeks,"We couldn't get to Al.."

"We didn't want to leave her.."

I was silent watching as Carl comes and hugs his friend and looking just as upset. I look at Summer she gives me a look turning to the kids," Why don't you tell 'er that?"

"We tried!"

"She just doesn't want anything to do with us." Sophia says as Carl rages.

I was silent I stood up as Summer tried to calm the two kids down. I go looking for Bambi I pass everyone grieving and trying to figure out what to do. Everyone was silent and Solemn just like that little girl petting the sleeping Shepard puppy.

I walk silently over and plop down next to her. I wrap an arm around her feeling her go stiff.

"What is it Bambi? Hm?"

Silence.

'Is it gonna be this tha' does ya in? Tha' changes the lil' sweet pumpkin o' mine?"

I saw her face twist in anger and god don't she look just like her daddy with it,"You don' get it Willow.."

"I don' pumpkin. I know fear though an' I saw tha' in ya eyes." I whisper making her look up at me,"Talk ta me baby. I am here I will never leave."

She stares at me trying to be stubborn like her daddy. I place both my hands on her face,"Talk to me baby girl. Ya know I got ya."

Her tears surface she sniffles before she broke. She started sobbing like a baby. It woke the pup up. I lifted her into my lap held this little girl while she cried and talked. I listened to every comprehensive word I could. I glared ahead before closing my eyes and holding Bambi closer.

Out of everyone, a child's mom should be the first person to protect them. I have always believed that because of my own momma. Mersadies put them all to shame.

I was able to take her from a crying mess to being able to walk back to the camp. Pheonix trotting along with us. Bambi looked so down and defeated while Mersadies is sitting by the women smiling being happy. It infuriates me. That little arm wrapped around me kept me from going and stomping that woman's face into the dirt.

We get to our part of the camp and she makes her way to my tent.

"How bad was it?"

I turn to see Merle looking stoic. I shake my head crossing my arms leaning on my leg," She will be okay. Mersadies on the othur hand.."

"Willow--"

"Relax," I state," Shes in shock give 'er a day or so."

Merle hums and looks over behind me I turn and watch Shane approach us. "We are calling a group meeting."

"We will be there." I state Shane mumbles something,"Wanna say that higher for us hearin' impaired deputy?"

He walked away at that point. I roll my eyes and look back at Merle,"Ya gonna go?"

"I wanna stay 'ere talk to 'er."

"She ain't gonna talk Merle."

Merle remained silent as I turned and made my way towards the gathering survivors. I don't like what I'm hearing just from a few feet away though.
