I was sitting around the fire with my family around me. We had just finished eating some deer and veggies Glenn had brought from another run. Bambi had ran off to go play with Carl who was surprisingly friendly with her. I held Merle down while they ran off and now he was glaring at me.
"I don' trust 'im." He mutters taking a drink of a soda I got from Glenn. A full 24 pack all for us? Hell yes.
I laugh."Yer 'er daddy. 'Course yer not gonna trust 'im." He just grunts sending a look towards the forest where giggles and sounds of snapping sticks could be heard. I wrap my arm around Merle's shoulders and rest my head on his shoulder."She's okay bud." I mutter.
"Hell yeah she's okay. She's a goddamn Dixon!" Summer exclaims with a laugh."I don' blame 'im. Wit' who his daddy is I would be wary ta." Daryl says agreeing with his brother.
"Never stopped us." Summer points out kissing Daryl on the cheek making him blush a bit.
Merle remained silent as did eye. I can feel him shaking a bit and grabbed his hand giving it a squeeze. When I stopped hearing the two it was to quiet and even I knew that wasn't normal for the kids."Will.." He mutters shifting a bit. I release him and start to listen when a scream with a groan came.
"LEAVE HER ALONE!"
That screech from Bambi was all it took for us to set off towards the woods Merle taking the lead. We come to a stop seeing Bambi on top of a walker bashing its head in with a rock. Both Carl and Sophia stood behind her looking shocked shaking. More footsteps came but I was busy getting the child off of the walker holding her shaking form."Good girl, Bambi." I say kissing her cheek backing away from the walker while Merle double tapped for Bambi by stabbing it for good measure. He stood up and walked up to Rick."Merle!"
Merle spoke in a low voice he gives Carol a look as if what he said included her before marching over to me. He takes Bambi and makes his way towards our camp Summer coming behind him. I nod to the group following Daryl who had a pissed expression on his face. I come into the camp as Merle came out of his tent. He looks at me before walking over to me.
"We need ta find a new place." He says.
That caught me by surprise."What?"
"Bambi may have held off one. We both fuckin' know that if there is one there will be more. I got two kids and one on the way ,Will." He says running a hand over his head.
"Hey. Merle," I say grabbing his arm with my other hand I grab his face and make him look at me."Listen ta me. We will get outta 'ere an' yer kids will be okay. Alright? Bambi's a tough girl an' what happened today proved it. Mersadies is a scum but wit' 'er stayin' 'round wit' Lori she shouldn't be put into much danger neither will yer baby." I say looking him in the eyes.
Merle just kept his eyes on mine before finally nodding. I let go of him and bring him into a hug. He just rested his forehead on my shoulder."Bein' a Father is way ta hard."
I laugh a bit."Well she's yer daughter, Merle. An' ya gotta admit she is one hell o' an ass kicker." I smirk."She got that from me." Merle says pulling out of the hug. I roll my eyes and make my way towards my tent when I felt a smack on my ass. I turn and give him a look the shit head grinned at me.
I walk over to him standing on my tip toes bringing my face about a centimeter from his."Careful Merle, yer playin' with fire 'ere." I say.
"Don' mind gettin' burnt." Merle mutters giving me a grin.
"Cute Merle. Keep yer hands ta yerself." I says moving away when he went to grab me. I wink at him before walking away from him high-fiving Summer from where she sat at the fire. She giggled as I entered my tent.
