Pilot Chapter 1 | The Calm Before The Storm

~

It was cold. Yet, I was used to it. I mean living and training in the mountains since childhood does that to a person. I closed my eyes taking in the cool air and out slow from my nose. Opening my eyes slowly as I shifted my gaze to the beauty that I was sworn to protect, Princess Yona.

Sighed out, thinking of all the things my princess has been since the murder of her father, King Il. I growled thinking about the person who was the cause of his death, Su-won.

I felt a light nudge from behind. It was Hak, I felt his blue eyes scan my face. I averted his gaze as I turned my head to the side.

"What is it, Hak?" I asked him.

"Nothing. I just hate seeing frown like that." Hak said.

"What do mean? My face always looks like this." I said crossing my arms under my chest.

"Yeah, sure..." Hak seemed to not to by what I was saying but didn't question me further. "Anyway, we should get moving. Tell the princess." Hak said.

"Of course." I nodded as I walked over to Yona.

She looked to be deep in thought when I walked up to her when caught her attention.

"Yona, Hak said we should get moving." I said to her.

"All right." She answered, turning towards me.

"It's chilly here." Yona commented softly.

"Well, yeah... we are in the mountains after all." I said back.

"I'm freezing," She said. "You know, Remi, back then... I had no idea it could get so cold outside the the palace walls." Yona said.

I looked off to the side and looked to the ground, clenching my fist and squinting my eyes in anger.

I know exactly what you mean, I might have not appreciated my cozy palace life and yet it was peaceful and I never thought I wanted to go back to those times.

I'm so sorry, My Princess.

The peacefulness of living in the Kingdom of Kohka a trained assassin, Remi, protect the King's only daughter, 15-year-old Princess Yona. Though, Remi wasn't born within the kingdom since the Princess and the assassin knew each other since childhood, King Il always put his trust in her. So, King Il put Remi at the mercy of his daughter, who turned Remi into her errand runner so basically her servant.

Today was marking the tenth anniversary of King Il's father, King Junam. Remi's grandpa knew said King. So, that's why her clan was connected with the Kingdom of Kohka and that's why she's here.

Remi had her arms crossed as she leaned against a wall in the Princess' chamber, who was getting ready for said event. She had her eyes closed, though she was listening to the conversation Yona was having with her servants.

Meanwhile, Hak was behind the King as he gave his speech to his subjects. Hak looked around seeing the two people were missing and one was supposed to standing by his side.

He turned to the guard that was stand beside him. "Where's the Princess and Remi?" He asked.

"I believe she's still in her chambers, prepping for event and I think Remi's with her as well, sir." The guard said to Hak.

Hak's eyes widened a bit. He should have known the assassin would be with the Princess. She's always at her beckoned call. But, his eyes widened for nothing reason.

"Oh, that's right. Must be 'cause he's coming today." Hak said.

A 'huh?' came from the other guard beside Hak as he sighed. "What a child." Hak commented.

Back in the Princess' chambers, Remi still hasn't moved from her spot until Yona called for her.

"Remi! Are you sleeping over there? Hey!" Yona shouted to her.

Remi's mint green eyes slowly opened shifted over to the Princess in a cold stare. She didn't want to deal with Princess' shenanigans but yet she humored her.

"No, Princess. I've been listening, no need to worry." Remi calmly stated.

"At least, help me! You're a woman, right. What would look best on me?" Yona asked the assassin.

Remi looked at the Princess then looked away. "Princess, do I look like a woman who has fashion sense?" Remi asked.

"You could at least try!?" Yona exclaimed.

"Princess, I'm an assassin not a fashion designer, didn't ask me shit unless someone needs to die." Remi said.

Yona growled at her, picking up and chucking a teacup the assassin. "Useless!" She yelled.

Remi caught the flying teacup with ease, sticking her tongue out at the Princess.
