~ Losing - H.E.R ~
❤︎I wake up with a killer headache laying on a warm chest. I lift my head slowly feeling the dizziness kicks in. I look down at Heath sound asleep. All the memories start flying in. And I remember.
I fucked up, again.
I slowly crawl out of my bed and search for my phone. I need to leave. I look through Heath's duffle bag, finding a pair of sweatpants. I put them on, over his boxers I'm wearing.
I search the room finding Jade's letter, my phone, a set of keys along with Heath's car keys and his wallet on the desk. I pick up his wallet and look through it. I take out some cash for a taxi and grab my phone and letter.
Incase Heath freaks out, I wrote him a short note telling him I left. I leave it by the bedside table before slowly and quietly leaving the hotel room.
Once I made it to the elevator I let out a sigh. I was so fucking close. I failed. I failed myself, I failed Harmony, I failed Jade. I failed everyone.
I walk outside and call for a taxi with my phone. It doesn't take long for them to get here. I ended up taking four because of how far my place is from here.
As soon as I get back it's around one in the afternoon so I know everyone is working or in class. I throw my phone on the charger and take a hot, long overdue shower.
Once I get out of the shower I notice it's ringing. Hundreds of messages and missed calls from Heath. He saw my note, I know he did so I ignored the calls. I don't know why he puts up with my reckless ass anyways.
I was so rude to him last night. He could've left. I told him too. I was a mess. Vomiting, crying and drunk.
Yet he still stayed.
But he can't just be there for me when he chooses too. I needed him more than ever eight months ago. Yet he never called, wrote me a letter or visited. That's when I needed him the most.
I was grieving the loss of my best friend. I was dealing with drug and alcohol addiction. My family problems. My trauma. I was lost.
And he left me. He fucking left me.
I spent the next hour cooking dinner for everyone as an apology. I probably scared them. I hear someone knock at the door and head to open it. Ajax and Harmony walk in and I smile.
I take Harmony out of Ajax's hands. "Hiii gorgeous. How was it?" I ask her.
"Good. So, so much fun," she mumbles. Her words are getting better. I was afraid she was going to be behind.
I look over at Ajax. "I made food. Want anyone?" I walk into the kitchen with Harmony. I sit her down in her high chair.
"Sure. What did you make?" He asks. He takes a seat next to Harmony.
I dish out a bowl of pasta for both of them. "Mild Cajun chicken pasta. Mild because Harmony and Drake don't like spicy food," I place down a plastic bowl and spoon down for Harmony.
I sit next to Ajax, handing him his own bowl and placing mine in front of me. "Hey, so you want to make a schedule for Harmony?" Ajax asks. I nod. "Alright well I have classes Monday afternoon, Wednesday mornings and Thursday nights. I was hoping I could have her Sunday and drop her off at daycare Monday. Then pick her up from daycare Wednesday afternoon and drop her back at daycare Thursday." I smile listening to Ajax explain. He's really growing up.
"Yeah that works for me. Look at you, an amazing father already," I ruffle his braids. He rolls his eyes pushing my hand away.
"I'd do anything for my daughter. If only I knew sooner," he sighs. He looks up at Harmony who's eating with her hands. So much for the spoon.
