I cried for half an hour before, finally, a knock on the door announced my best friend, Cassidy.

"C-Come in.." I sniffle, wiping my eyes and looking up at her. Cassidy is probably the most beautiful person I know, inside and out. She's tall, with a little bit of a tan and gorgeous baby blue eyes. Her platinum blonde hair falls to her shoulders. Her smile is infectious, when she's smiling you can't help but smile back at her.

I'm going to miss her so much.... I whisper to my wolf, who whimpers in my head Me too Leah...

She runs over, hugging me tightly and I start to cry again, and so does she.

"It's alright LeeLee....." She whimpers "We'll still be friends. Oh god I'm going to miss you so much!!"

"I'm going to miss you t-t-too!" I sob, "You're my best friend in the world I don't know what I'd do without you." she hugs me even tighter

We stay like that, hugging and crying, for what feels like forever, even though it was probably only ten minutes before a thundering of footsteps can be heard as my entire soccer team and the rest of my best friends start heading upstairs. Cassidy opens the door for them and they all rush in to hug me, passing me from person to person, each telling me how much they'll miss me. After about twenty minutes of goodbyes Cassidy grabs my hand.

"Lets go downstairs. " she smiles excitedly, i have no idea what she's so happy about

"Alright..." i say uncertainty, after all when Cass says do something, you do it. She grins and pulls me out of the room and down the stairs. before we get all the way down her hand drops mine and she places her hands quickly over my eyes.

"Uh, Cass, what the hell are you doing? " I hate not being able to see where I'm going.

"I don't want to ruin the surprise, duh." she says it like it's a fact. Wait..... surprise? looooooovely. I hate surprises almost as much as I hate not being able to see. Cass tells me to keep walking and i do, trusting her not to run me into a wall or doorway.

"okay." Cassidy says in a singsong voice right before she removes her hands from my eyes "Happy birthday Leah!!!" they all yell as I take in the scene before me. Helium balloons are stuck to the walls and streamers hang from the ceiling. On a fold up table there's a ton of Chinese food and a cake with 'Happy 16th Birthday Leah!' written on it. Beside the table is a massive stack of presents. I turn to Cassidy.

"how did you... " I stop as she opens her mouth to speak

"I had all the stuff at my place, I've been planning a surprise party for your birthday for weeks and well... I decided that since you won't be here when you turn 16 that we'd have it now." she smiles and I cant help but grin as I shake my head, my best friend thinks of everything.

"Oh and by the way, the guys will be taking shifts packing up your stuff while we're down here." Cassidy's smile doesn't quite reach her eyes this time as she thinks about me leaving.

"well... let's eat then! I'm starving. " i smile at them and my aunt starts passing out the plates for everyone to get food. I can't help but think that this is the perfect sixteenth birthday party..... or that the one my parents will throw will never be able to compete, because right now I'm surrounded by my REAL family, something that will never happen when I leave.
