Mason's POV

***********************

I watched the rogue run, carrying my mate in his mouth and I felt tears start running down my face, stuck under another rogue.

"Leah!" I screamed through the mind link, the fighters haven't broken through the line yet, and my mate is so far away it would be nearly impossible for even Scar to catch up to them.

I turned my attention to the line again, and Scar connects with my mind, "Start to shift!" he growls, and I do as I'm told. Beginning the change I feel my body contort and my bones snap, gritting my teeth I just let it happen, used to the pain. The rogue sees what im doing and is about to bite me when its shoved off by a giant black wolf.

"We have people heading off the rogue. " Scar informs me as I finish shifting and stand. He starts running and I follow, tracking the rogue's scent. I can't speak, I have to find her. No other male should me saving her, that's my job. I pick up the pace, but by the time we reach them Leah is already safe. The rogue is dead.

"Why did they take her?" I asked quietly, sitting next to my unconscious mate as the pack doctor works on her.

"We don't know...." Scar whispers, "But they seemed pretty determined to have her."

The doctor sighs in relief and I look at him.

"Well? Is she okay? Did they hurt her? When will she wake up?" I demand, Scar is watching me curiously.

"She's fine, they only bit her to inject some type of sedative into her system. And to be quite honest I don't know when she will wake up." The doctor says, he's watching me with the same expression Scar is.

I nod, relieved that she's going to be alright.

"She needs to get home where I can monitor the effects the sedative has on her." the doctor states, and he reaches as if he's going to pick her up.

My wolf takes over for an instant, letting loose a snarl and moving me protectively in between them.

He holds up his hands, showing he means no harm, and takes a step back as I slowly regain control.

"I'll carry her..." I tell him, gently picking her up.

The doctor nods, glancing at Scar. I can tell their talking, but I honestly don't care. We start walking towards the pack house.

Scar leads me to her room and I gently lay her on the bed.

"Your her mate... Aren't you?" Scar asks, staring at me intently.

I nod, sitting on the edge of the bed, staring at Leah.

Scar sighs, "I have to talk to Alpha Hunter. Call me if she wakes up."

He walks out of the room, leaving me with my mate.
