Chapter 4

"Landon, hey what are you doing here?" Hope asked while Landon looked at her weirdly "What do you mean, what am I doing here? I haven't seen you all day and I wanted to hangout with you" Landon gave her a smile and acknowledged Josie's presence as he walked in "Josie" Landon gave Josie a nod. Josie just gave him a faint smile. Landon and Josie were never really close so they don't really care how they greet each other, whether it was just a nod or a simple 'Hi' but Hope always noticed the awkward tension between the two so she had the perfect plan to remove the awkwardness between them. Hope closed the door as soon as Landon walked in. "Okay well, since you're here I have a great idea, we should all watch a movie together!" Hope excitedly said.

Josie and Landon gave each other a look after what Hope had just said "Uh, I don't think that's a good idea" Josie replied, earning a nod from Landon "Yeah, I agree with Josie, no offense but her and I aren't really close Hope" Hope started setting her laptop and projector up so she could play the movie on the plain wall beside the door "Which is why a movie night would be a great time to connect with each other and become friends" Hope gave them a look. "Fine, but you're staying in the middle" Landon said as he walked over on the opposite side of the bed from where Josie was sitting leaving a big space for Hope in the middle. "Deal" Hope said, picking the movie Breakfast Club. Before Hope could start the movie she forgot the most essential thing to bring to a movie night "I forgot to get popcorn, I'll be right back, so just stay here" Hope quickly said as she went downstairs to the kitchen to get some popcorn.

When Hope left, Landon and Josie just stayed on Hope's bed quietly. Josie took her phone out and started scrolling through instagram. "Wait, I thought Dr.Saltzman said no phones allowed?" Landon pointed to Josie's phone. "He did, this is my back up phone for when he takes away my real phone, which obviously he did" Josie still looking at her phone. Landon just nodded silently and mouthed 'cool'. "So" Landon spoke again, trying to break the silence "What" Josie replied. "Well, Hope wants us to be friends so why don't we start now?" Landon looked to Josie. "Fine" Josie said with a hint of attitude as she put her phone away "So what are we talking about?" as she faced Landon.

"Okay how about we ask each other questions while Hope's still getting the popcorn" Landon suggested with a smile. "Sure, but you start" Josie awkwardly smiled. Landon took a second to think of a question "Why are we not friends? I mean we're both really close with Hope so" he finally spoke. Josie wanted to tell him that she never really liked him, that she only saw him as the guy dating Hope. "I don't know, I guess it's because we've never really hung out before" Josie said as she lied. Landon slowly nodded, waiting for Josie to ask him a question. "Have you ever taken Hope out on a date?" Josie asked knowing the answer to her question, but she wanted Landon to feel bad about how poorly he treats Hope.

Landon started fixing his form as soon as Josie asked, clearing his throat "Why do you ask?" he said nervously. "Cause why not? You said ask questions and I did, now you have to give me an answer" Josie sternly said. Landon noticed how Josie was acting weirder than usual, even though both weren't that close, Josie was never this serious when she would talk to Landon. "Uh okay" Landon replied. "I've never took her out on a date" he sighed. Josie looked at him and quickly said "And why not? I mean don't boyfriends take their girlfriends out on dates?" Landon was taken aback from Josie's response as he furrowed his eyebrows. "Why are you asking me this question? I know it's not a coincidence that it just popped up inside your head" Landon said as he starts getting annoyed. When Josie was about to say something, Hope finally came back.

As soon as Hope got in the room with a big bucket of popcorn floating around her which she made possible by casting a spell, she slowly closed the door as she saw the two on the bed not talking and completely looked at each other annoyingly. Hope grabbed the popcorn "Hey..guys" she said awkwardly. They both turned to her and gave her smile. Hope just wanted to continue with the movie night so she ignored what she saw when she came in. "I'm gonna start the movie so get comfy" she said while turning the lights off. Hope walked to her bed and sat between Josie and Landon. "So who wants popcorn?" she offered but Josie shook her head since she doesn't really eat when she watches a movie so Landon grabbed the bucket from Hope's hands "I do" Landon said. Landon's quite the opposite when it comes to watching a movie, he loves to eat while watching and he gives the movie all his attention.

Hope moved closer to Josie since Landon is a messy eater. Josie gave her a smile and brought the blanket over to their legs. Underneath the blanket, Josie took Hope's hand and intertwined it with her own. Caressing Hope's hand with her thumb. Hope loved it when Josie would voluntarily take her hand, it made her feel something she always wanted to feel. Instead of watching the movie, both girls just stared at their intertwined hands as they played with it. Hope could feel the deep breaths Josie would take once in a while.

Josie slowly turned her head towards Hope and when Hope noticed, she did the same. The girls have no idea why but there was this strong pull between them and they just wanted to give in. Josie intently stared into Hope's eyes, looking down on her lips for a quick second, which made Hope feel something more intense, she wanted to close the gap between them so badly but she knew she couldn't because of Landon. Hope bit her lower lip as Josie was going nearer to her lips. Josie closed her eyes until Landon threw the popcorn, making a mess everywhere which startled both girls and quickly stopped holding hands as they looked at Landon. "Oh sorry, I just love the sliding thing they all do in the hallway" Landon said excitingly, not removing his eyes from the movie.

Hope exhaled since she thought Landon caught Josie and her doing what they were doing. Hope snapped back to reality and realized she has a boyfriend and Josie has a girlfriend and what they're doing is wrong, even though it feels so right. So she moved closer to Landon and rest her head on his shoulder as Josie was watching her. Hope knew Josie was upset because she took her phone out and wouldn't look at Hope. Josie began to stand up from the bed "I have to go, Penelope's looking for me" she said softly. "Bye" Landon said but Josie just ignored him as she puts her shoes on. Josie looked at Hope and quickly gave her a faint smile when she opened the door about to leave. As soon as Josie left, Hope felt she was somewhat responsible for Josie leaving so she quickly stood up and went after Josie "I'll be right back Landon" she quickly said.

"Josie wait!" Hope running after her. Josie turned around confused and waited for Hope. "What's up Hope? Josie asked. "Are we okay?" Hope said. "Of course, why wouldn't we be?" Josie replied. She gave Hope a hug and said "I promise we are, okay?" Hope gave Josie a smile after hugging. Hope felt like there was something off between them, she knew something was not okay. "Are you su-" Hope was cut off by a girl calling Josie's name "Josie, hey, I've been waiting for you" Penelope said while taking Josie's hands giving Hope a dirty look. "Oh, hey Hope" Penelope greeted, "Penelope" Hope replied. "Let's just talk tomorrow, okay?" Josie said while Penelope was waiting. Hope gave her a nod and then Josie and Penelope began to walk back to one of their rooms. Hope did the same except she had this urge to look back to see Josie before she goes into hers, only to see Josie and Penelope kissing in front of Penelope's door. Which got Hope upset as she went inside the room. Landon noticed how Hope was feeling down "Hey you okay?" Landon looked to Hope as the movie was still going. Hope gave him a smile "Yeah, I'm fine, just a bit tired" she said as she sat next to Landon on the bed resting her head on his shoulder.
