Fitz slammed his fist against the desk when he heard the news.

Sophie Foster had escaped.

Granted even while she was in custody, they couldn't really do much with her, hence why she was isolated, because she was so powerful that she could escape the moment she was addressed.
At least, that's how it had been when they were kids and Sophie was constantly evading her own bodyguards.

So while yes, Fitz was beyond infuriated with her escape, he had also assumed it would happen the moment Dex informed him that the ability restrictor would probably not work on all of her abilities.

"You were supposed to wrangle her in Sora." Fitz growled. Those had been his orders when he sent the Inugami after Sophie to make sure she didn't escape so soon.
He at least had to keep Sophie long enough for the Lost Cities to try to break her out, which would lead to more major casualties like Linh's.

Otherwise his whole ploy with involving Maruca and bribing her with Stina's antidote to kidnap Sophie, would've been for nothing.

Sora shrugged arrogantly, flicking his raven black hair, his purple eyes, flecked with teal, glinting in the darkness.
"There was a complication. My opposing half happened to be there already. If it wasn't for his ability then I wouldn't have minded."

"And what exactly is the ability that made you hesitant enough to loose your prey and come back empty handed?" Fitz rolled his eyes in annoyance as his gaze averted to the computer screens hovering around him, watching the several cameras Dex had given him access too, which were inside of the Lost Cities.

"Well you know I was originally a hydrokinetic elf before the Inugami possessed my body. Which yes, it does give me my creature form, it doesn't do much to make me more powerful when I'm in elven form like right now." Sora explained as though it was the simplest thing to understand. "My nemesis Haru is a froster. So any water I use against them, will just be frozen in my face. Ultimately, yes I am more powerful than Haru.
I can last longer in a battle, fight better physically, I use my ability better, I have more stamina and endurance.
Against each other however, I cannot beat them in a head on battle because all they have to do is drop the temperature around them and any water will just build up into an ice shield around them, and yes they have done this before when we've fought.  Besides, I especially cannot beat them when they're right next to their master that they have to protect."

"Basically all I'm hearing is you're too lazy to figure out how you can beat Haru in the first place." Fitz summed up, beyond annoyed.
While yes in the mere week he's had Sora by his side as an ally, Fitz has been able to get the Neverseen's plans back on track even with Keefe missing.
During this entire time though, Sora kept saying that it was a good thing that he was on Fitz's side, yet hasn't been able to prove why.

All Sora had done was really keep the other Neverseen members from getting mad at Fitz by being a threatening presence. Like a bodyguard who wouldn't move, but you know they would snap someone's neck in an instant.

"So if you can't beat someone weaker than you simply because your abilities are compromising to each other, then what good are you anyway." Fitz finished with a snap, rising from his chair, pushing it back as he stood.

One look was shot towards Sora, who's expression could wither plants, but Fitz didn't give him much attention otherwise.

Luckily before Fitz said anything else, Zlo coughed, making both boys jump as he had slid into the room without announcing his presence and going unnoticed until that point.

"Progress update on Tam Song." Zlo simply said, taking note of the twitch in Fitz's jaw that proved he wasn't in the mood for anyone filling the air with mindless chatter.
