Chapter 12: Giraffes are 2 feet tall

Mike was laying in bed thinking about El and his friends. but mainly El. He turned over to his right side and reached over to his bedside table. He reached over so far that his whole right side was hanging off the bed. He finally grabbed the comic book that was sitting on his table and rolled back over to his back. He opened the superman comic book and flipped to the first page. The second he got onto the first image there was a knock at the door. He closed and sat down the book to his side.

"Come in." He called out. The door opened to Karen walking in and closing the door behind her.

"Hey sweetie." She said sitting on the edge of his bed. He sat up and pushed the hair out of his face.

"What's up?" He asked.

"So, your grandmother isn't doing so well and she needs me and your fathers help. So I need you to watch Holly for the weekend. Nancy is coming with us. I thought maybe El could come over tomorrow and you could take Holly out and make a day out of it, then your friends could come over and sleep over and stay the day Sunday. What do you think?" Karen said smiling. Mike's eyes lit up and he sat up straighter.

"That sounds great Mom. Max and El too?" Karen hesitated for a moment before giving in.

"Fine, but the girls have to sleep in a different room, ok?" Mike shook his head yes.

"Now go and call them, me and your father will be leaving tomorrow at 9, so El can come then." Karen said as she got up and walked out of her sons room. He immediately got up and ran downstairs to the basement phone. He dialed the Byers household and waited for someone to pick up.

"Hello?" Joyce answered.

"Hey, Ms. Byers, could I talk to El for a moment?" Mike asked.

"Of course, I'll tell her, one second."

"Thanks." Mike said as he waited for his girlfriend.

"Hello?"

"Hey my love, I have a question."

"Go for it Mikey."

"So, my parents and Nancy are going to be out of town for the weekend and I have to watch Holly and my mom recommended that you come over tomorrow and we can take Holly out and you and the rest of the party sleep over and stay sunday. Thoughts?" Mike said excitedly.

"That sounds great. What time should I come?"

"9"

"Ok, ill go ask Joyce. Do you want to tell Will?"

"Sure."

"Ok, ill hand the phone over."

"Wait El?"

"Yes?"

"I love you." El was sure that he could tell that she was smiling.

"I love you. Ill see you tomorrow." Mike smiled as he waited for Will. After Milke called everyone and let them know about the weekend plan and thankfully everyone could come. Mike walked up to Holly's room and knocked on the door and waited for him to be greeted in. He walked in to his little sisters room and sat on the floor next to her.

"Hey Holls."

"Hi." She said as she was playing with her dolls.

"So how would you like to hang out with El tomorrow?" Hollys eyes lit up and she got up and started jumping around.

"Yay, I love her." She yelled excitedly.

"And then the party is going to sleep over ok?"

"Dustin and Max too?" Mike laughed.
