Nikolai walked sluggishly towards Remedial Goodness Class and plonked into a chair. After he finished copying down a formula for math - not noticing Mal and Evie sitting next to him - Fairy Godmother approached them with a monitor set up behind her.
"Children, excuse me. As you know this Sunday is Family Day in Auradon Prep and because your parents can't be here due to, uh, distance. We've arranged for a special treat." She walked up to the monitor and hit the spacebar on the keyboard. She was met with the VK's parents peering into the screen but Hades was strangely absent.
"I can't see anything, nor do I hear." Maleficent backed away from the screen. Fairy Godmother beckoned the 5 teens forward. They walked up to the monitor and stood behind Fairy Godmother. "Is it-is it?"
"Press enter." Jafar muttered.
"Can I please see a remote! Is this thing on? Ugh, it's broken," Maleficent declared, "This is why I hate electronic equip-" She was cut off by the Evil Queen waving.
"Evie! It's Mommy!" The Evil Queen waved at her daughter. "Oh! Look how beautiful! You know what they say? The poison apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
"Don't you mean the weeds." Maleficent remarked.
"Oh! Who's the old bat?" Cruella demanded.
"This is Fairy Godmother." Mal told them, ignoring her mother's stone gaze.
"Still doing tricks with eggplants?" Maleficent mocked. The villains laughed and if you looked close, Nikolai had an almost unnoticeable smirk on his face.
"I turned a pumpkin into a beautiful carriage!" Fairy Godmother defended herself.
"You really couldn't give Cinderella 'til 1am? I mean, really? What, the hamsters had to be back on their little wheels?" Maleficent fist bumped the Evil Queen and Nikolai started silently chuckling.
"They were mice! They were not-" Fairy Godmother turned to the teens and they told her they would speak to their parents. "They were mice!" She said once again to the villains before moving off to the side.
"Hello Mother." Mal greeted.
"Mal!" Maleficent exclaimed. Mal jumped. "I m-m-miss you." She said.
"You children are never far from our thoughts!" Jafar cut in.
"I got this. How long must mommy wait to see you?" Maleficent said in a sickeningly sweet voice making Nikolai gag at the fakeness and the naivety of Fairy Godmother.
"Um there's a big coronation coming up, so probably sometime after that." Mal explained.
"When?!" She demanded.
"Friday, 10am." Mal answered.
"Are you sure I can't see you before that? I don't know what I'll do if I don't get my hands on that magic-" Maleficent was cut off by Evil Queen hitting her on the back of the head. "You! You little nugget that I love so much!"
"Yes I completely understand, Mother." Mal retorted, uneasy by the sweet voice coming from her mother.
"Dragon!" Nikolai exclaimed, getting the attention of everyone in the room and the villains. "Where is my father?"
The villains went strangely quiet and Nikolai thought that there was something that they weren't telling him. "Well?!" He prodded.
"Hades couldn't be here, he had some deals to make." Jafar nervously squeaked.
Nikolai simply nodded and stepped back away from the screen. In doing so, Cruella noticed the dog in Carlos' hand.
"C-c-c-Carlos? Is that a dog?" She asked, her face filling up the screen. "Oh, yes, yes, baby. I too understand." Cruella started squeezing the Dalmatian on her coat. "It would make the perfect size for earmuffs." She started to cackle.
