The nightmares were becoming more intense, plaguing Rapunzel's every attempt at sleep. It was always the same.
It would be all blurry, but she could see a man standing over her. He was holding something in each hand. He would try to take her from her bed, but something would stop him. There would be a sharp pain in the same spot as her scar and she would wake up.
She knew it wasn't real, but it was so jarring and confusing that it haunted her.
It continued even until Christmas, the one time of the year where she usually felt completely calm and at peace; now ruined by her nightmares and exhaustion.
This didn't go unnoticed by her friends, which took it upon themselves to try and cheer her up.
Rapunzel was awoken rather suddenly from her nightmare-plagued nap by the sound of something hitting the door, followed by silence. She thought that she had made it up, her brain playing tricks on her; so she turned to her side and tried to go back to sleep.
Tic
There was that noise again, it sounded like a small object being thrown at the door. She huffed, turning onto her back and looking at the door. A part of her didn't even want to get up and see who was chucking stuff at her door.
Tic
Rapunzel sighed, dragging herself out of bed and shuffling to the door. When it opened, she was met with a hilariously strange sight.
Fred, George, and Lee were all at the bottom of the stairs; except those stairs had turned into a slide when they had tried to climb them. They were all huddled together, partially on the slide as if they had tried to climb up and failed.
"Blondie!" Fred exclaimed, looking relieved.
"Why are you like that?" Rapunzel asked, watching as they did their best to get to their feet. "And what's with the stones?"
"Well, we were gonna knock on the door but as you can see that didn't work out." George huffed, using Fred's head to push himself up; earning a whine and a flailing hand trying to smack his hand away.
"Did you just have stones sitting in your pockets?"
"Yes. No. Maybe?" Lee said sheepishly, trying to hide his handful of stones back in his pocket.
"You just said all possible answers to that question." Rapunzel snickered, taking a step on the slide which turned back into a staircase. "Are you going to tell me why you were throwing rocks at my door?"
"Get bundled up, Blondie. We're playing in the snow, and we will drag you out there if we have to."
Rapunzel had never seen this much snow before, nonetheless walked in it. It was a strange, wonderful experience. She was almost dancing around the way she took random steps in the snow just to see her footprints.
Her moment was interrupted however, when something cold and hard hit the back of her head, causing her to yelp in surprise as a chill went through her.
She whirled around, and both George and Lee were pointing at Fred, who looked extremely smug.
"You're on, Freckles!" Rapunzel grinned, scooping up snow in her hands to make a snowball. She had never made one before, so it was a little off and misshapen, but it would do the trick.
"I'm coming for you!" She shouted, beginning her pursuit of him as he quickly turned and did his best to sprint the other way in the snow.
"You can't escape your doom! The snowball is coming for you!"
