We paused for a moment, and I could see the terror fill her eyes. I could tell she was about to run.
She jumped to her feet and I pushed her back against the wall.
"Let me go!" she screamed with terror. I used my body to trap her, and she yelled.
"Please hear me out," I whispered into her hair. She squirmed and I couldn't stand seeing her upset like this.
"Let me go!" she repeated, her voice shrill and her heart beating.
"Shut up," I demanded.
"No!" she cried.
"I would never hurt you," I whispered. Her fast beating heart started slowing down and her breath became heavy. She felt so fragile in my arms, and I held her tight.
"I think it's time for bed, princess," I planted a kiss on her cheek and placed her body on the bed. She didn't speak a word, and she closed her eyes.
"Darden," she whispered, just as I was about to go to sleep on the floor.
"Yes princess?" Our words were quiet, almost breathless.
"I hate you," she said on an exhale and pulled the covers over her head. I smiled.
I slept peacefully.
The next morning I woke up, and she was gone. A chill ran through my body. Where the hell was that girl?
I ran outside, terrified that something had happened to her, and didn't bother to put on clothes.
"Princess?" I called out. No answer. I was running through the forest, searching for her.
"Ah, you made it," said a familiar voice. I turned around to see Carlene pointing a gun at my head.
"You don't scare me," I told her, our breaths mingling. Her eyes drifted to my lips as I ran a hand down her chest. She shivered.
"You're a dumbass," her voice shook as I kept my hand on her.
I snatched the gun from her hands, spun her around and pushed her against the outside wall of the cabin.
"Why do you always have to kill the mood, princess?" I joked.
"Who killed the family?" she snapped, trying to wrestle out of my arms.
I placed a single finger on her soft lips and whispered, "you talk too much," right against her cheek.
"You live too long," she spat out between gritted teeth.
"Life's too short," I whispered again. I placed my hand on her waist and pulled her in.
"Why don't you just kill me," she choked out. I could feel her breath as I put my lips against her neck.
"Where's the fun in that?" I started to place soft kisses on her neck. A quiet moan escaped her lips.
She grasped my arm as I moved my lips up and down her neck. Her fingers found my hand with the gun in it and she pressed the trigger. The bullet hit the ground, just barely missing my foot.
"Oops," she giggled, scurrying out of my arms.
I balled my fists.
"Go fuck yourself," I grumbled angrily.
"How the tables have turned," she whispered.

Romance"Princess," I said, changing the subject. "Do you have any feelings for me?" I asked, as seductively as I could. She rose from her chair. "No," she said. "Lies," "I fucking hate you, Darden," she crossed her arms. I realized that was the first time...
