Panic

Olivia's POV:

How, HOW could she sleep in? On such an important day as well. I was up and ready hours ago, excitement coursing through my veins.

Unlike most days, I actually put thought into my outfit today- I have to make good first impressions. My morning was riddled with anxiety and eagerness knowing that my new life was only hours away.

I live in a dorm on campus at Oxford university. However, the journey from my dorm to my classes are around thirty minutes.

To nobody's surprise I had my whole day planned out to a tee. I was going to take a nice slow walk to school, embracing the scenery of Oxford- Maybe even grab a cup of coffee on the way.

My plans were instantly demolished as I realise that she had slept in.

After calling her for half an hour and getting no reply, I make my way to her dorm room. The first day of university- the world at our feet- and she is sleeping.

At least we live in the same block.

In a panic, I hurry out of my dorm to go to hers. Weaving through endless coridors, I make my way to the stairwell dreading the task ahead of me.

I live on the first floor whereas she lives in the fifth. In a hurry, I rush up the stairs.  Damn, I really gotta loose some weight.

Stupid broken lift.

Four disgustingly difficult flights of stairs later I huff in defeat. We were undoubtedly going to be late. Great. Fifth flour, sixth door to the right (if my dodgy memory serves me correctly).

My light jog turn into slumpish steps down the corridor. Pulling out the spare keys she gave me a few weeks ago, I enter her dorimtry.

There are no words in the English dictionary- or in any viable language- that can describe the state of Aliyah's flat.

I push through the swamp of dirty clothes strewn on the floor, towards her bedroom.

Her roommate showed no signs of being here- better for her, she won't need to witness the scene that is about to unfold.

Following the sound of what I can only assume was an asthamtic dragon, I saw Aliyah, one arm slung over the bed, the  other clutching a teddy bear. Cute.

I smack her head.
