Hell

Olivias POV:

                    ***Five hours later***

What the fuck was that? My first day of uni that's what.

I'm sitting in my bed leaning against my bed frame absolutely exhausted from the past 5 hours. Aliyah is slumped on the end of my bed sprawled out (belly down), not saying a word.

Why? Because words can't describe the shit-show that unravelled today.

My mind can't stop running over the events of today.

My lecture in Marine biology was immensely difficult and it was only the basics.

The minute I ran into the auditorium, I tripped over a guys bag ( letting out a horrific yell that escaped my mouth). This earned me a dirty look and frown from my professor for my tardiness and disturbance of the lecture.

Not only was I trying to calm my heavy ass breathing but I was searching for any available seats in the crammed room. Weaving my way through rows of visibly annoyed people, my butt ended up pressing against some of their desks- uncomfortable for for both parties.

To my demise, I ended up sitting at the very back, smushed in the corner against a man who wore way too much Cologne for comfort. After two and a bit hours of absolute bullshit I went back to my dorm to study.

Midway through studying I tried to make some eggs and toast (your girls gotta eat). Usually, I'm a great cook (not to toot my own horn but toot toot) but this new gas cooker in my dorm was dodgy as hell.

The eggs got stuck to the pan and the toast got incredibly burnt making the smoke alarm go off.

After a safety talk and a warning from the fire department as well as campus security I called Aliyah hoping to hear that her day  was better than mine.

It wasn't.

Her aerospace engineering lecture was "confusing as hell". She was on the verge of an existential crisis questioning if engineering is really what she wants in life.

She also informed me that she witnessed the same dude from our collision have sex in a toilet right next to her. What the fuck. Small world Huh? Momentarily, Aliyah fantasised about this good looking man who seems to be the theme for today, but I quickly shut it down- reminding her of his arrogance.

We ranted to eachother for about a good couple of hours.

Now, we're sitting in silence, I'm staring at my bedroom wall and she's face-planting my unicorn pillow.

The much needed moment of peace was rudely interrupted by a rustling at my door. Heaving myself out of bed, I felt heavy as I trodded through the corridor to my front door.

A letter was on the floor of my dorm- so it was just a postman. Picking up the letter I made my way back to my room and plopped on my desk chair.

Holy shit. Rent is due in two weeks? Why are my bills so high? Is this what it's like to be an adult?

I want out.

Hearing my sighs Aliyah looks up at me in question.

"We gotta get jobs," I announce.

She lets out an overdramatic, disgusted groan in protest- as if getting a job is the most unimaginable thing in the world.

Well, maybe it is.
