A clueless galaxy struggles to progress technology. The rest of the universe is watching, waiting, for one of their puny little spaceships to make it further than their planet's moon. Of course, it's hard to blame them since they're all alone in their galaxy. No outside forces close enough to nudge them along, or at least help them get up to date with the latest traveling methods.

Although they would be better off without the help. If someone from outer space comes to their planet, the first thing they would do is start a war. Of course, it's a war they would not win, but it's better to steer clear of them anyway. The universe is impressed that Earth isn't abandoned or scorched yet. They watch as many species invade the Earth, but the humans always seem to come out alive.

Granted, humans are by no means the only intelligent life form that inhabits Earth. Best not to tell them that, they already start enough wars with their own people. The other intelligent life forms aren't strong enough to defend the planet either. Daleks, Cybermen, even Krafayis have terrorized Earth, but the human race seems pretty much unscratched. Others can't help but wonder. Who, or what, is strong enough to defeat some of the most terrifying species in the entire universe? They never wonder for long, not if they've met him.

Out of all the planets watching, one stands out in particular. It's not a small planet, but it isn't big either. The atmosphere is almost the same as Earth's. The ground is solid and covered in deep, blue grass. Trees are scattered around the plains, shedding their turquoise leaves in the winter. The northern hemisphere is almost a hundred percent covered in forest, the exception being the small village hidden in the clearings.

The planet is called Zolar, and it's considered the most beautiful planet in the universe. The southern hemisphere is filled with amazingly tall skyscrapers and thousands of stunning people. No one is allowed to cross into the northern hemisphere, by the punishment of death. It's treated like a border, the strongest Zolarian soldiers stationed to guard it. The small village has in the northern forest has a bumpy dirt road leading to it. That village is where the Outcasts reside.

Those who reside in the cities are encouraged to avoid the Outcasts if they see one in the city. There are only two reasons an Outcast is permitted into the hemisphere. Gathering supplies and medical help. The Village does have healers of its own, but they are not equipped to handle serious injuries.

The village people had their own system, and it worked well for everyone involved. Dismissing the occasional dismemberings and stabbings, the Outcasts had no trouble surviving. Every week the village would send one person to collect supplies from the closest city. Being all the way in the northern hemisphere meant a three-day trip on a vehicle. The vehicle was provided by the Zolarian government to prevent more crimes against the Outcasts. Of course, an Outcast would be caught while driving and killed every once and a while, but the fatality of leaving the village decreased tenfold. This system of gathering supplies had been constant for around a century, and no one had plans to change it.

But nothing lasts forever.

Those who live in the city, True Zolarians, were all required to look a certain way. Blue eyes, blonde hair, tall, and clear, pale skin. Those who failed to meet those requirements were considered Outcasts. On the rare occasion that a True Zolarian couple gives birth to an Outcast, the parents have two options. The child can be raised in the city until they are eighteen, (provided they wear the required Outcast mask,) or they can send the child to the village to deal with.

Vara's parents sent her to the village.
