Weiss growls in frustration as she enters her dorm, coming to pace back and forth across its length, having just ended a rather disheartening call with her father. She always tries to give him a little leeway when they talk, more so that he might see fit to do the same for her in other matters than for parental love, but somehow, he always disappoints her. Today's call had been a particularly frustrating one, as it was clear that her father has a hidden agenda involving her attendance at a specific event in the near future. He insisted she attend.
Before she can contemplate further however, Ruby pokes her head over the edge of her bed. "Everything ok, Weiss?" The room becomes considerably more frigid when Weiss looks at her.
"Does it look like everything is ok?" Weiss snaps, before taking a deep breath and tossing her scroll onto her bed, readjusting her long ponytail in an attempt to distract herself.
"Alright, Ice queen, what's got you feeling chilly today?" Yang exhales, having taken a break from her 'studying' to do some leisurely exercise, with some of her textbooks as improvised weights. "Ruby didn't have to ask."
Weiss sighs. "It's my father, every year he hosts a charity gala, of sorts..." She despises her father for making the event less about the charities and more about her father connecting with potential business partners, or companies he plans to consume. "And he's expecting me to attend, next week." She'd been hoping that he might let her off the hook because of her studies at Beacon, but no such luck.
"What? A gala, like those big rich people parties?" Ruby asks giddily, a big smile coming to her face as she imagines all of the glitz and glamour; at the same time knowing how scary that kind of social event would be. "That's cool, so why are you mad?" She asks curiously.
"It sounds right up your alley." Blake adds, voicing the thoughts of Ruby and Yang, not looking up from her book. She feels confident enough now that she has removed her bow to let her ears breath, but she still keeps it close.
"Well, not only is it a long trip to Atlas and back, but father has also expressed his desire for me to be accompanied by, an... eligible bachelor." Weiss mumbles the words that drip from her tongue with obvious discomfort. Potential suitors she knows will become a part of her so-called 'rich family' traditions, but she has no interest in the kinds of men her father will deem suitable.
Yang stops mid-movement, looking up at her with a small gleam in her eye.
Blake looks up for a moment. "At least you'll have someone to distract the wolves." She says humourlessly, her cat ears twitching at her own words when Yang giggles.
"I'll go with you," Ruby offers. "Take me; I'll protect you, partner." She hops down from her bed striking a battle-ready pose with an intense look.
Weiss almost cringes. "She doesn't mean real wolves' you dolt... she means... never mind. In any case, I can't take you, Ruby, I don't believe you qualify in the category of either 'Eligible' or 'Bachelor'." She smirks as Ruby huffs and sticks her tongue out at Weiss. "Very mature, fearless leader." Weiss adds.
"So, this eligible bachelor is like your date?" Yang asks, smirking as she stands, enjoying Weiss's discomfort. Weiss tenses as her team stare at her, Ruby letting out a small giggle as she catches on to her sister's train of thought. "Hmmm, who shall you pick Ice queen?" Yang continues. "I have a suggestion or two..." She smiles when Weiss's anger is sparked in a split second.
"If you say Jaune, I swear I'll-"
"Or Ren, actually no, Nora might kill you in your sleep." Yang muses, rubbing her chin in apparent contemplation, to annoy Weiss further. "Oh, how about Cardin, he'd be an unexpected treat for your father." She grins devilishly before saying coyly. "Of course, it has to be Theodore, he'd certainly be 'suited' to a gala like that."
