THE CLIFF

A gentle breeze drifts through the window as the sun rises over Beacon, its soft beams bathing Theodore's face in a warm glow. It would be a peaceful awakening... but Surtur decides to start prodding the young man's face with his snout. At first, he's waved off by his sleepy human friend, but the wyvern quickly becomes impatient. He pokes Theodore more and more, getting harder and harder until he accidentally hits Theodore's eye, causing him to sit up quickly. Theodore blinks rapidly and groans tiredly, looking down at his lap, where Surtur is waiting with narrowed eyes and a lightly swishing tail.

"Ok, Ok I'm up." He tells the wyvern, sliding out from under the covers; Surtur immediately jumping up to his shoulders. He yawns and walks over to a small bowl on the windowsill, beside which rests a tub of various cooked meat chunks. He pours some out into a small bowl and Surtur hops down to eat. Theodore sighs remembering how he'd started with a bag, but the wyvern had kept tearing it open; he then tried a box and Surtur set in on fire, doing the same to the first plastic tub, but he soon realised that melted plastic made the meat inedible.

'That turned out to be a loooooong month. Mother barely let me keep him afterwards.' Theodore rubs sleep from his eyes and pictures the face of his mother, steam practically coming out of her ears while Surtur stood there without a care in the world. She forced Theodore to clean up the tub and train the little red nightmare. But with the tub and scenic views from the windowsill he's become much more mellow, thankfully.

With the beast fed, he goes for a shower. The warm water feels good running over his body, rejuvenating him quickly while the last yearning to stay in bed fades away. When he's finished and has dried himself off, he heads to his wardrobe and looks at the array of clothes for a moment. He nods, picking out a storm grey three-piece suit. Surtur watches, bemused, as Theodore puts everything in place, clipping on the cufflinks to the white dress shirt, buttoning up the waistcoat and jacket and finishing it off by straightening the purple tie around his neck.

After that he combs his hair up and over with a left parting, he looks at himself in the mirror; happy with his image, he picks up his umbrella and looks back at Surtur. "Come on, you may have had breakfast, but I haven't." He feigns a frown at the little red beast, who puffs out some smoke but flaps over to his shoulder all the same. Theodore scratches his head as they leave and Surtur's tail curls slightly with contentment on his back. It's so early that there's almost no one around, so the two have a leisurely breakfast and a stroll around campus before heading to the locker room where they encounter the other students.

Once inside, Theodore double checks his suit and umbrella. The locker room itself isn't as impressive as the rest of Beacon, with simple white walls, a tiled floor and benches spread throughout, as well as metal rocket lockers lining the walls. Each student is given a locker to store their weapons and gear but as Theodore's weapons are hidden in plain sight, he doesn't really need one. After his checks are done, he looks around and spots Yang talking to Ruby, the latter of whom is stroking her weapon with a happy smile on her face.

"Well just remember Ruby, you're not the only one going through initiation." He hears Yang say as he walks over. Yang is now dressed in her Huntress outfit, her torso covered in a figure hugging short sleeved brown leather crop jacket with a bright yellow crop shirt drawing attention to her ample chest. Around her hips rests a leather strip half-skirt with light purple gossamer fabric curling around her thighs from under the strips, black spandex shorts hugging her upper legs beneath. Finally, she's wearing shin high brown boots with stockings to mid-thigh and a purple bandanna wrapped below her left knee.

"If you want to grow up, you'll need to learn to meet new people and work together." She adds, placing her hands on her hips; Theodore notices two bright yellow gauntlets resting on her wrists, the words 'Ember Cecilia' embossed on them.
