"That. Was. Painful..." Eliza groans, closing the thick textbook in front of her and leaning back into the desk chair, exaggerating a stretch over its back. The only response she gets is the flipping of a page, followed by a low crackle and a burst of heat. She looks over at Theodore and Surtur, the last small sparks from the wyvern's mouth lightly singing the table; Theodore doesn't seem to notice, continuing to read. "I don't think I even want to look at another textbook... ever." She scoffs with a small side glare.
"Then I'm afraid you might have a difficult few years ahead of you." Theodore smiles. He absentmindedly jots down a note with his free hand, his eyes darting across the pages of his book. Surtur snorts loud enough to draw Theodore's attention to him. "What?" Theodore asks with a cocked eyebrow. Surtur lightly growls and flaps up to the shelf above Theodore's head.
"You've probably done all of this before, which brings me back to the same question I asked yesterday, and last week, and... why won't you let me look at your old notes?" Eliza asks, striding over to him. "And technically, I missed my last year of combat school, soooo..." She tries a pleading tone, hopeful about its success.
Theodore just sighs. "One, whilst I have gone over the curriculum before, it has been updated or reinforced every few years. Two, I think that if you write your own notes it will help you retain the information better, shortcuts will just make it easier for you to forget it. And three, you could have chosen to keep up with your studies whilst on the road... you just didn't." He grins, turning back to Eliza's deep frown, meeting her narrowed hazel eyes, set jaw and crossed arms without pity.
"I hate you." She says.
"No, you don't." He responds casually, twisting back as he does.
Eliza grunts, looking up to see Surtur is also glaring at Theodore, his tail disappearing behind one of the books on the shelf. She watches with interest as he lightly nudges the book forward. "It's a Friday afternoon, can't we do something... anything else." She suggests, glancing back to Surtur as Theodore considers her request. Surtur looks at her as his tail pushes the book half over the edge.
"I suppose we could- Gah!" Theodore jumps as the book crashes down on his hand. Eliza bursts into a fit of laughter, watching him flick his wrist, cradle it in his other hand then rub it profusely. He looks up at Surtur with disappointed annoyance, to which the beast pays no mind, perching serenely on the edge of the shelf. "Why exactly are you upset?" He asks Surtur.
Eliza manages to control her laughter, but still lets out a giggle. "My guess is he's getting antsy from being stuck inside all day, and so am I if you couldn't tell, Goodwitch." She felt her impatience had to be stressed, just in case he still has any notion of studying; If Surtur hadn't dropped a book on him, she'd have thrown one at him. "So, I've texted Coco, she'll be here soon, and we'll think of something fun to do." She adds, trotting over to the wardrobe and sifting through her clothes.
"How long ago did you text her?" Theodore asks, closing his book, standing up and placing the fallen one back on the shelf, forcing Surtur to move, which he sees as adequate punishment for his behaviour.
"Oh, I texted her while you were still glued to your desk." Eliza says, taking out an outfit similar to her normal ensemble, tossing it on her bed just as there's a knock at the door. "That'll be her. Can you get it while I go and change?" She doesn't leave him much choice, sweeping up the pile of clothes and heading for the bathroom. Theodore sighs with a resigned smile and opens the door, seeing Coco and Velvet waiting in the hall.
"Hey!" Coco grins. "Eliza said you're being boring, so we're here to liberate you both from the shackles of work." She bows dramatically, as if she's doing him a great service, blowing her dip-dyed lock of hair away from her face when she comes back up. Velvet facepalms at her leader's antics, but Theodore just cocks an eyebrow. "Try not to burst with excitement there, Teddy." Coco smirks at him.
