As night falls on Beacon, the first-year students head for the ballroom and Theodore finds himself stood before the central fountain, looking up at the shattered moon. Surtur soars in small circles above him, the wyverns silhouette blocking out the stars wherever he flies. But Theodore barely notices him; he appreciates the quiet moments like this, especially in somewhere as busy as Beacon. Surtur returns to his shoulder after another minute or so, following his friend's gaze up to the moon.

"Uh, excuse me. Are you alright?" The soft yet strong voice breaks both man and beast from their stare. Theodore turns around to be met with a girl who has shining amber eyes and long black hair; it flows around her face and her fringe almost covers her eyebrows. She's wearing long black stockings over white skin-tight trousers, her arms covered in black slip-on sleeves and palm wraps. Above her white crop top rests a black single button waistcoat, a large black bow resting atop her head to complete the ensemble.

"Oh? I'm fine... just lost in thought." Theodore smiles as Surtur huffs and returns to looking at the stars, the girl cocks an eyebrow at the Wyvern. "Don't mind him. So, did you need a quiet moment as well Miss Belladonna?" Blake's eyes widen in surprise, she takes a small step back. Theodore cocks an eyebrow in curiosity at her response.

"How do you know my name?" Her tone is defensive and a little pointed.

'Why does the fact that I do scare her so much?', Theodore wonders. Surtur turns back, now much more interested in the conversation as a cloud obscures the moon.

"I just know, like how I know about the dust vial you've 'forgotten' to return to Miss Schnee." He still smiles as Blake becomes even more stunned. He knows he shouldn't, but Theodore does somewhat enjoy freaking people out like this. "May I have it? Better I face her wrath than you. I'm technically faculty here so..." Blake hesitantly steps forward again, reaching inside her pocket and giving him the vial of red dust. "I didn't mean to make you nervous." He adds, his smile fading slightly.

"No, no it's ok. I just never expected you to be a teacher... technically." She smiles warmly, a hint of wryness in her tone. He returns the smile; Surtur puffing out some smoke and squinting at Blake's bow when it twitches slightly. "I'm uh, not going to get into trouble for that am I?" She asks gesturing to the vial, clasping her hands together and taking a more relaxed pose. Theodore chuckles.

"Please, if anything I'll need to tell Miss Schnee to be more careful with it." He smiles and Blake exhales in relief, looking up after a moment. She does as he had earlier, staring up at the moon, he walks to stand beside her and they watch the sky in silence for a time. "I'm Theodore by the way and this is Surtur." Theodore adds; She hums in acknowledgement as the stars get brighter. "You never answered my question, what are you doing out here?" He asks kindly. Blake tears her gaze from the moon to lock eyes with him. His light green irises meeting her bright amber ones.

"Well, like you said, I just wanted to get some air before heading into the ballroom." She answers casually, breathing deeply the crisp night air. "That and avoid the crowd." She adds and Theodore smiles, knowing full well how the ballroom could be. He had once asked why they don't just give them dorms for the night, but Ozpin said that the ballroom encouraged a sense of comradery.

'A stuffy, uncomfortable and cold comradery.' Theodore thinks.

"Yes, I'm not a huge fan of crowds myself. Far too noisy" He tells her and Surtur chuffs in agreement. Looking back up they see that the clouds have all but disappeared, leaving them with a stunning sky full of twinkling stars and the glowing moon. "Now that's a view." Theodore murmurs under his breath; seeing Blake's look of wonder, he smiles. But the distant tapping of a cane heading towards them piques his interest.
