One Shot 2
Red Ropes
MK's job gets a lot harder in the winter. The tuktuk didn't drive well on the slippery streets so that means he had to walk. Luckily this year he actually had chains for the tires so he only had to drive a whole three feet before he had to stop and park it. There were so many wrecks, angry people, and oh the demon attacks. So wrapped up nice and tight in a scarf and mittens Sandy made him. He trudged through the snow.
A small cat ran across the road and MK suddenly realized where he was. This was the rich part of town. He could make out Mei's parents' roof from there. But this order took him down another street. He sighed as he looked on at the house that he was supposed to deliver to. It was nothing but a burned out husk. He sighed and turned around to leave. Great...just a prank call...
He pulled out his cell phone and messaged Pigsy that it was fake. He took a picture of the burned down building and sent it to Pigsy as evidence before leaving. He trudged back toward the restaurant. He sighed as he hugged the bowl to him. It would be warmer that way, the noodle bowl was warm and if no one was going to eat it, he might as well use it like a hot water bottle. He looked around the grove he passed. It was normally covered in cherry blossom petals during the spring.
He found himself staring, and totally didn't feel someone standing next to him.
"Winter always makes us wait for a tiny blossom." MK looked up at Tang. He had forgotten his apartment was close by. MK turned back to the grove and smiled.
"Yeah, I can't wait for the spring festival. That smell of food, the sweet cotton candy. Pigsy will pull the food truck up to the curb and he and I will sell noodles till there's no one else in sight." At least thats how it normally was. Lately he would train with the Monkey King...at least till he went on vacation.
Reality flowed back into his mind and he felt the reassuring emotion that tapped at his mental door.
About a month ago Tang had rescued MK by using his blood to heal MK. Ever since then they had been able to feel what the other felt and some emotions that they had they would share.
As a father figure Tang tried his best to quall those emotions, but there was one that came to the surface a lot...and he couldn't explain it. Most times he never knew why MK felt these emotions and he never told him anything. Perhaps now would be a good time...away from overprotective Pigsy.
"MK?" Tang started. MK just rolled his eyes and started to walk. Tang was sure MK felt what he felt a few moments later. It was fear.
"You know how Macaque had us in that lantern?" Okay that's not what MK thought Tang was going to say. The boy turned and nodded. Tang sighed as he sat down on a bench. It was freezing cold. He stood back up and rubbed his butt.
"Yeah, go ahead." MK started to walk. Moving was less cold to him. "Sorry about that by the way. I just had a lot on my mind." Tang understood he did.
"Well yeah I know, but...well Pigsy and Mei didn't seem to remember anything." Tang rubbed his arm. MK looked at him. "I saw everything. I tried so hard to stop myself from hitting you. I really did, hurting you was the last thing I ever wanted to do MK." Tang felt an arm around him.
"It's okay Baba." He whispered, almost testing the word out. Tang looked down at the boy.
"It's uh...well I..." Tang chuckled and sighed. "I'm sorry." Tang pulled the boy in for a hug. At first it seemed like a small hug, but Tang felt MK hug him tighter. The noodles hit the ground and burst open all over the sidewalk.
"I know MK...I know you're trying so hard to figure this out." Tang voiced the boy. He felt the boy's sudden panic. "It's okay though, we're here...and if I know Wukong...he's already got things figured out. We just need to hold down the fort long enough for him to get home." Tang pulled back cupping MK's face in his hands. "He won't abandon us. He won't abandon you. Now come on, you're freezing cold. We'll just tell Pigsy I ate that. He'll believe it." MK chuckled. "It was for a prank call anyways." MK said as they walked back toward the noodle shop. Tang felt MK's shoulders were a little lighter and his heart felt a bit better. He still had that foreboding feeling, but he suspected that it was because...
"You can call me baba if you like. Sounds nice." Oh the glee he felt.
