Dream's POV

I immediately regretted it as I saw tears streaming down George's face.

I knew I was stupid for saying it. And he was visibly upset. But I didn't want George thinking that I hated him.

"I-I'm sorry George-"

He starts to get up from the place he was sat but I knew I couldn't let things end like this.

Without thinking I grab his hand just when he was about to start making his way of the rooftop.

"I-I didn't mean it George."

"Save it."
"If you hated me you could have just said it."

"I don't hate you."
"I wasn't thinking."
"Please just let me talk for a few minutes."
"I promise I won't bother you again if you just let me talk."

"F-fine."

He sat back down and stared at me as he waited for me to say something.

I knew I couldn't fuck this up if it was the last time we would ever talk.

"I'm sorry."
"I was being stupid and I didn't think before i told you that."
"It's not true."
"I don't hate you."
"I've been wanting to talk for weeks."

"Then how do you feel about me?"

"George, I want us to stay close but I know there is no chance of that happening."
"Because I promised we wouldn't have to speak again."
"So I want to make our last upfront conversation the best it can."
"You hate me and I understand it."

"I don't hate you Dream."

"Then why would you agree to sit back down if I would speak with you again?"
"You obviously don't want to talk after this."
"And if that's what you want then that's fine."
"I'm going to miss us being close but I don't want to be a burden to you."

"A burden?"
"You aren't a burden Dream."

"Yea well it sure does feel like it."
"I'm like the weight on everyone's shoulders."
"I only bring them down and always end up fucking stuff up."
"I make things worse for everyone."

"Why do you think we go through all this trouble?"
"It's because we care about you."
"Everyone would have been gone by now if they hadn't cared about you."
"You aren't a burden and we're willing to feel horrible just so you can get better."
"There is a reason why everyone went out looking for you-"

"Then why didn't you go?"

"I- I was scared to talk with you."
"But I still hoped they would find you."

"You were scared because we had one stupid night?"

"S-stupid?"

"Yea, it's stupid you've been ignoring me because of that one night."
"I'm the one who felt horrible."
"Because you didn't like me and had nothing to worry about."
"My heart was fucking shattered that night but I tried moving on."

"You do not think I felt bad too?"

"No you didn't because you had never liked me in the first place."
"It didn't effect you."

"It fucking hurt me too Dream!"

"How?"

"I-I"
"I loved you, I was just afraid of what would happen since you were seeing Layla."
"You could have at least broken up with her before you tried to kiss me!"

"I wasn't even sure if you liked me."

"Oh so if I didn't like you then you would have just stayed with Layla and pretended like you hadn't tried to cheat on her?!"

"That's not what I'm saying!"
"I never loved her but I felt bad leaving."

"Yea well I guess it's behind us huh?"

"What!?"

"You obviously don't like me now since you've been an asshole so what's the fucking point?"

"I-I like you George."

"Yea right."

He was about to leave and I could tell so I held his hand in mine and looked at him.

It was now or never.

"I-I love you George!"
"I have loved you for the longest time!"
"I don't hate you."
"I still love you even after everything we've been through!"

I basically burst in that moment.
