VIC'S POV

After a little over two hours of driving, I finally reached the bar that Lindsay was supposedly at. I pulled over to the side and parked just across the street. I got out and leaned against the car, waiting for a break in the traffic so that I could cross. After a few minutes, there was a break, and I ran across the street. Once across the street, I looked around to see if Lindsay was outside.

And there she was. Sitting under a palm tree, resting her head on her arms, and a...beer bottle next to her? I disregarded the bottle and let all the excitement and happiness fill the whole of my body, letting a tiny smile escape me. I slowly approached her so as not to startle her.

"Lindsay?" She jerked her head up and looked straight at me, her eyes squinted as they adjusted to the light. Once used to the sun, her eyes widened at the sight of me, and instantly a huge smile formed on her face.

"Oh my god!" she said as she got up. She ran up to me and tightly wrapped both of her arms around my neck, refusing to let go. I happily returned the hug, wrapping my arms around her waist, and finally letting a huge smile show. "I didn't think you'd actually come."

"Well, here I am." We both pulled back from the hug. I looked into her dark-brown eyes, and started leaning in for a kiss. I pulled right back, realizing what I was doing, and decided that I should save the kiss for later. "Uh, should we go now?"

"Yeah, come on! Let's go to the beach!" Lindsay intwined her fingers with mine, and started walking towards the car, pulling me along with her, and I once again felt the same completeness I felt a few months back.

"You wanna go to the beach? Why?" Not that I was objecting. It was just a random thing to say, a random place to go.

"I haven't been to the beach once since I've been here. I need beach time."

"You've only been here for two days..." As I said that, I safely led her across the street to the car, and opened the passenger door for her.

"Yeah, and?" She gave me a sly smile before getting in the car.

"Alright, the beach it is, then." I got in the car and started it, then we were on our way to the beach.

When we got there, the sun was starting to set, and there was barely anyone there. The tide was starting to go back. We both took our shoes off before stepping into the soft, scolding-hot sand.

"Hey...I'll race you to the water." Lindsay looked at me with a playful smirk, and slowly started walking to the water.

"Ha, you're on."

"Okay. One, two, thre- HEY." I had gotten a running start and was almost to the water, when Lindsay finally caught up with me and jumped on my back, almost tackling me into the sand.

"Alright, fine, if you wanna play this game..." I quickly regained my balance and carried her the rest of the way to the water. Once I was at least knee-deep, I carefully threw her off my back and into the water, completely drenching her. She quickly got back up, her entire body soaked. Her dark-blue shorts got darker; her short, dark-brown/black faded hair completely wet; tiny droplets of water gleamed off of her glasses; and her white t-shirt soaked enough for me to see the black bra she had on. Surprisingly, her shirt was the least of her concerns.

"Awh, my hair! ...My beanie!" she excalimed as she pushed her bangs out of her face. "Where'd my beanie go?!" Lindsay caught sight of her beanie, and dove into the water to retrieve it. She swam back onto shore, and plopped down to the ground when she got out of the water. "You know," she said when I sat next to her, "it's true what they say about California ocean water."
