VIC’S POV
As Lindsay wrapped her arms around me, I could already tell that this was going to be the start of something amazing. The more I kissed her, the more my mind went blank. I couldn’t think about anything else other than her. With every kiss, I was falling more and more in love with her, if that was at all possible.
And then out of the blue, I heard something vibrate. We both stopped kissing each other and gasped at the same time. Lindsay had a surprised look on her face, and darted her eyes everywhere, as if she had never heard the sound before.
“Uh, that’s my phone…” she said, slowly unwrapped her arms from around my neck, and pulled out her phone from her pocket. “Why the fuck is Izzy calling me?”
“Well answer it!” I encouraged. I didn’t want her to leave her friend hanging because of me.
“Uuugh. Hello? …Oh hey Izzy! …Nothing much, just relaxing. What about you? ….Oh, sounds like fun! …Oh yeah, everything was fine. The plane ride was kind of weird. But other than that, it was pretty cool. …Oh, Jhonathan? Yeah, he’s alright. He’s sleeping right now though. …Well thanks for checking up on me, sweets! ….Alright, I’ll talk to you later on then. ….Love you too, dearest. …Ahaha, alright, bye!” Lindsay hung up, threw her phone somewhere into the distance, wrapped her arms around me, and buried her face in my neck. It was the cutest thing ever, to say the least. I found myself smiling like a goofball, and didn’t bother to hid it. I wrapped my left arm around her waist and stared at the stars, deeming myself the happiest man on Earth.
I looked over a little while later and found that Lindsay had fallen asleep. I found out earlier today that she was a pretty heavy sleeper, so I carefully managed to pick her up with out waking her up, and brought her to the car. I carefully layed her in the back seat, and covered her up with the blanket we didn’t end up using. I then took at least ten minutes to look for her phone, eventually finding it not far from where we were laying down. Happy with myself for finding her phone, I got in the car and drove us home.
Once back at the cabin, I turned the car off, carried Lindsay inside, single-handedly drew back the blanket, placed her in the bed, took off her shoes, and tucked her in. Not really feeling quite tired yet, I decided to go out and see how the fire was holding up, seeing as how we forgot to put it out when we left. The fire was just a pile of embers now, but I knew I could turn it into a fire again. I put another log in the pit and used Lindsay’s stick to prod it around until it started up again. I went inside and grabbed a beer from the fridge, went back outside, and sat down by the fire, thinking about what happened tonight.
I was quite happy about tonight. In fact, I was ecstatic about it. I recollected on the kiss, and then started thinking about the future. Where were we going to be in ten years? Will I still even have feelings for her? I was sure I would, but I know that things change, and that people change over time. But then I started to become doubtful. What if Lindsay only said those things tonight to just make me feel happy? What if she didn’t really have any feelings for me? Was this all just a game for her? Was she just using me? I decided to put those thoughts aside with the acceptance that Lindsay’s feelings were real, and I refused to let myself think anything different.
Realizing how much I wanted to be with her, I finished my beer as fast as I could, put out the fire, and went back inside. As I made my way to the bedroom, I turned off all the lights that were on. Once in the bedroom, I got undressed, put some sweatpants on, and climed into bed with Lindsay. After I got myself situated, I turned off the lamp next to me, scooched as close to Lindsay as I could, kissed her cheek, and wrapped my arm around her. As I layed there in the dark, I thought about how happy I was. I knew that this was going to be the start of something amazing…in fact, I was sure of it.
