Colorsplash's age: still 1 year old, near to the new year

Arame was suspicious. Definitely, she wasn't usually the doubtful kind, but she supposed Hydro's ways were rubbing off on her.

"She's been sitting there for almost an hour now!" Arame complained. "Hello? Splash? Are you even listening?" she demanded, turning to face her best friend.

"...Mhm..." was her reply. "Come on Arame, she's not even doing anything, we've been here for an hour, and I'm bored and hungry.

"NO! She's obviously waiting for someone, and she's been doing it for an hour!"

Colorsplash groaned. "What do you have against her anyway? She's been nothing but nice to me."

"Yeah, to you, before you came she was like, the meanest girl in the hatchery. Or is it nursery? Urgh, curse Queen Coral for not labeling those right," Arame looked over to Mizu, who was still waiting for someone.

"Hey guys!" a familiar voice rang out.

"SHHHHHH! We're spying on Mizu!" "Hey Lotus!"

(You can guess which reaction came from who.)

Lotus looked taken aback, not used to Arame's ways. "No, it's fine. We can talk? Arame, you won't mind right?" Colorsplash asked.

Although it stung a little, Arame waved the feeling off. "Yeah, I don't mind."

Colorsplash waved bye and walked off with Lotus. Arame continued spying on Mizu, her "archenemy" since she had entered the hatchery/nursery.

(Flashback: Arame's story)

She still remembered that day. A past version of Arame had slunk in the door, minding her own business. She had avoided the teacher's introduction of her and sat down on a kelp bed, fidgeting with her talons.

"Hey, new dragonet, what's your name?" a light blue dragon swam over and flashed, her pretty head held high.

"Arame."

"Okay. You're my minion now. I'm Mizu, and one day I'm gonna marry a prince and become a SeaWing princess," Mizu flashed, eyeing Arame archly. "Follow me."

The young SeaWing followed her new "friend" to the other side of the place.

"Meet Mizu's Minions. You're one of them now," she ordered, flashing her scales brighter to make it seem more like a command.

Arame nodded, too afraid to speak up and mentally wishing Drizzle could help her. Unfortunately, he was home, sick. She swam over and sat down, curling her tail around herself and avoiding eye contact with anyone else.

A dark green SeaWing glared at her. "We're Mizu's Minions. We follow her everywhere and are at the top of the hatchery chain, below Mizu herself of course."
