Melanie Barrett, not new to town and everyone knows this. Everyone has seen her walk down the halls of the school and everyone has seen her hang around the Duskers. Now what if her friends have a deep secret and she becomes a part of it?

The trio hid behind the shrubs as they watched people drinking punch and laughing, as the loud music blared. "Dancing vampire babes, 12 o'clock." Benny says causing Melanie to roll her eyes and step out of the shrubs. "Melanie!" Ethan whisper shouts. "I got this." She says as she walks towards the house, people nodding at her.
"Melanie!" She hears causing her stature to go rigid. "Jesse...hey." She says as she smiles slightly. "Is Sarah here?" Jesse questions and eyebrow raised. "No, haven't seen her." She says, it wasn't really a lie she hadn't seen her since the gates. "If you see her, tell her I need to talk to her." Jesse says walking away. "Sure." She says as she walks away.
Ethan, Rory, and Benny were all together. "Now we just have to find Melanie." Benny says. "Wait! Melanie's here?" Rory questions as he almost immediately starts fixing his hair. "There! Melanie!" Ethan shouts causing her to turn around. "Oh thank god." She says as she rushes over. "Hey Rory." She says a smile on her face. "Hey." Rory says becoming shy. "We're going to find out what is happening." Benny says as he points up. "Alright." Melanie says as she leads the group up, being as stealthy as they possibly could.
"In a few short days, we will have our revenge." The familiar voice of Jesse says. This statement causing an uproar from the other people. "And more: We will have this whole town!" Jesse shouts. "Yeah!" A guy shouts just as Rory goes to stand up, but Melanie grasps his wrist and brings him down. "But the prophecy cannot be fulfilled until we meet our target. Two hundred and nineteen, soul for soul." Jesse says. "Lame, where's the band?" Rory questions causing Benny and Ethan to shush him. "But I just-" Rory stops as Melanie speaks "Shh!" Melanie says quietly.
"It'll be an incredible night. Like something out of a movie." Jesse says. "Movie, schmovie. The Rorster needs food." Rory says but Benny grabs him and covers his mouth. "Fine. Enough talk. We're all hungry, the moon is full. Let's eat." Jesse says causing cheers to erupt. "We have to leave...fast." Ethan says as they scramble down, Melanie tripping. "Go." She says to the three boys. She goes to stand up, but it all happened so fast, all she remembered was the sharp pain in her neck. "Mel?" Sarah questions as she sees the girl holding her neck.
"No." Sarah says as they walk towards the big circle. "You can't. Not them! I know these kids, I'm babysitting them." Sarah says. "Well, I'm sorry, but wait. You still need a babysitter?" Jesse questions. Sarah grabs Melanie's hand after noticing it was shaking. "Control it." Sarah says as Melanie stands tapping her foot. "I can't." Melanie says as she licks her lips. "Yes you can." Sarah says. "Stop! Initiations will follow tradition. Fledglings will drink first." Jesse says motioning to Sarah, Erica, and Melanie, just as they shoved Rory in the front. "Hear his heart pumping It's the beat of a whole new world waiting for you, one where you'll never die, never grow old. One bite and it's yours." Jesse says.
Sarah steps forward. "Sarah don't!" Ethan says as he grabs Sarah's wrist. Melanie going against all odds steps forward, her bloodlust taking over. "Fine." She says. "Mel no!" Sarah exclaims. "Hey, girls, there's no need to fight over me." Rory says but he stops as Melanie goes over and bites his neck, her fangs making an appearance. Melanie turns to look at Rory who was on the ground. Melanie turns to the boys, they didn't look at her in horror, or well Benny did.
Sarah grabs two shreds of wood. "Back off! I mean it!" Sarah exclaims. Ethan motions Melanie over causing her to raise a brow. "Seriously, where can you go?" Jesse questions. "Benny!" Ethan shouts causing them both to push the punch bowl over, Melanie pushing the lamp over. "Come on!" Melanie exclaims as they run out of the house. "We're so dead!" Benny exclaims and they made it outside of the gates, but right when they do, they were surrounded.
Other vampires roared causing Melanie to hiss back at them. "Woah." Benny says causing her to turn to him and shrug. Thankfully Sarah joined them, helping to defend them. Benny and Ethen brought out their homemade tanning bed lightsabers. "We're harnessing the force of sunlight!" Ethan exclaims. "It's actually ultra violet radiation in spectrum similar to the sun." Benny says just as Ethan swung at a vampire. "No way! It works!" Ethan cheers. "This is so wicked!" Benny exclaims. "Good thing your Grandma likes to tan." Ethan says.
Sarah tossed one of the wooden shards towards Melanie as they both start hissing at the other vampires. They continue backing towards the car, Sarah and Melanie still helping the boys. "Now can we run to the car?!" Sarah questions. "Go!" Melanie exclaims as they all hop into the car, Melanie sat beside Sarah as they drove out of there. Once they made it back to Ethan's house, it was only a short while later that Ethan's mom came back.
His Mom payed Sarah and they were out of there. ""Wanna come over?" Melanie questions causing Sarah to chuckle. "Yeah." Sarah says as she wraps an arm around Melanie's shoulders. They walked into Melanie's house, hearing a rustling in the kitchen. "Aunt Bex?" Melanie questions as she looks into the kitchen. "Oh my god." Sarah says causing Bex to turn towards them. Bex immediately brought the blood back towards her back, shutting her mouth.
"Bex...are you a vampire?" Sarah questions. "No?" Bex says. "Aunt Bex." Melanie says. "Fine." Bex says as she reveals the blood bag. Melanie's eyes widen as she looks at it. "Wait..." Bex says as she grabs Melanie's arm and moves her hair. "No way." Bex says as she looks at the bite marks. "Are you still a fledgling?" Bex questions. "Well..." Melanie says. "Melly." Bex says causing Melanie to look down. "I couldn't help it!" Melanie says. "I get it, I get it." Bex says as she hugs the girl.
"You staying over tonight?" Bex questions Sarah. "Yeah, I'll stay today." Sarah says. Eventually they went upstairs. Sarah sat on her bed as Melanie looked at her fangs in the mirror. "So I just think of them to come out and they come out?" Melanie questions. "Yeah, same thing for them going in." Sarah says as Melanie sits on her bed. "Okay, so you've been a vampire the longest, tell me all I need to know." Melanie says.
"Cover yourself from the sun, so sunblock and jackets, eat before doing extraneous activities so your blood hunger won't get worse. Now just stay safe and follow these rules and you should be okay." Sarah says. Melanie nods and she lays flat on her back. "My teeth hurt." Melanie whines causing Sarah to laugh at the girl. "Don't worry, you'll be okay." Sarah says as she pats Melanie's shoulder.
