Golden threads of morning light came as an invitation to a new day.
The sun shined brightly through the large floor-to-ceiling windows as the breeze gently flowed into the room. These large windows were one of Asher's favorite features of his penthouse. He often woke up to natural lighting that brightened up his room, making every morning a perfect sunrise.
It seemed even more perfect with the woman that he had loved for years, laying beside him, sleeping peacefully, without a single care in the world. She laid on her side, facing him, with the sun shining down on her covered figure.
Her hair seemed to sparkle under the bright light and gently, Asher brought his hand up, swiping the strands of hair away from her face, wanting a closer look at her everlasting beauty.
Alana let out a small groan, scrunching up her nose at the ticklish feeling of her hair on her nose. Asher quickly pulled his hand back, afraid he had woken her up accidentally.
Instead, she remained asleep with her eyes still closed, she shifted from her side to her back, and back to her side, pulling the covers up back to her neck. Feeling unsatisfied, she sought refuge in Asher's side, feeling the warmth that radiated from his body.
Asher gently pulled her back in his arms, allowing her to subconsciously cuddle further into him. And almost immediately, she fell back into a deep slumber, her mind taking her back to dreamland.
Asher couldn't help but grin at how adorable Alana looked in the mornings in contrast to her usual charismatic and alluring looks. Not that she wasn't alluring in the mornings, but it was just something different— in a good way of course.
As much as he loved the Alana Sommers that everyone saw out in public, he also loved a relaxed and comfortable Alana. Regardless, he was just in love with her wholeheartedly.
He could barely believe that last night actually happened. Yes, it took years, but Asher Pierce had finally admitted that he was in love with Alana Sommers.
Who knew that his spontaneous decision to call and ask her to dinner turned out to be the night she officially became his and he became hers? Asher just couldn't be happier and finally, it felt like his life was complete.
Glancing at the clock and back down at her sleeping form, he almost didn't want to leave the bed at all. He wished he could stay in bed and hold her all day, but he knew he had to get up to get some work done.
Begrudgingly, Asher quietly stood up, making sure to tuck Alana in so she wouldn't get cold, and made his way to the restroom, where he took a quick shower and began to get ready for the day.
Feeling the sun's warm embrace on her skin, Alana's eyes opened, blinking not once, not twice, but three times as she took in her surroundings. She had almost forgotten where she was for a second as she glanced down at the black sheets that carefully cocooned her.
The sun shined brightly into the room as a gentle breeze nestled her skin. The city looked beautiful outside the window with a cloudless bright blue sky background framing the cityscape of Downtown Los Angeles. It always amazed her at how different Los Angeles seemed to look at night compared to the day— both equally as beautiful and lively.
She couldn't help but smile as she thought of the events that took place last night. Her heart swooned and she felt a familiar fluttering feeling inside of her— the same feeling she had felt back when she was in middle school with a schoolgirl crush on her best friend's brother.
Alana almost snorted at how cliche that sounded.
Glancing around the room, she wondered where Asher had gone, but her question was soon answered when she heard the shower turn off.
