donghyuck sat slumped on the couch in the dorm he shared with renjun, scrolling through his instagram feed. jaemin's recent post caught his attention, and he sighed to himself. renjun, sitting next to him, glanced over and noticed the cause of donghyuck's dismay. without a second thought, he snatched donghyuck's phone out of his hand.

"i will not hesitate to throw this thing in the blender if you don't stop moping over aera," renjun threatened.

from previous experience, donghyuck knew that renjun's threats were not to be taken lightly. he very much would, in fact, throw his phone in the blender.

"i know," donghyuck stuttered, sinking deeper into his seat. "i'm really happy for the both of them, especially because jaemin is visibly happier and more present."

renjun sighed. he didn't show it much, but everyone knew he cared a lot for donghyuck. as the mood-maker of their friend group, it was clear that despite his seemingly carefree demeanor, donghyuck needed support too. renjun threw an arm around him, trying his best to console him. "if it makes you feel any better, you did the right thing."

"renjun?" he suddenly asked out of nowhere. "how do you know so much about relationships if you've never been in one?"

the older boy furrowed his brows, taking his arm back and turning away. "who ever said that?" he mumbled.

hearing those words, donghyuck became excited, asking him if he had a girlfriend in a rather giddy manner.

"i've been in a long distance relationship with a girl from china," he explained.

"who?"

"her name is mingxia," renjun breathed. "i met her online."

all of donghyuck's previous moping had been transformed into curiosity. he knew that renjun was a private man, especially about his love life, but he'd always just assumed that he didn't talk about it because he didn't have one. "have you ever met her?" he questioned further.

"i plan to over the summer," renjun shrugged in response. he looked over and saw donghyuck now leaning forward in a criss-cross motion, each elbow resting on one knee and arms holding up his face. it was almost amusing to see.

"why'd you never tell us?"

"no one asked," he answered as if it were simple. "plus i wasn't sure how long it would last because it's my first serious relationship and it's long distance too."

"wait." donghyuck's gears got turning as he jogged his memory. "so all this time that you claimed you were reading on your phone..." he trailed off. he suddenly hit renjun on his chest, a bit too hard, but all in playfulness. "you were texting her! you were reading her texts!" he yelled, overjoyed at his realization. "you fucking liar!"

"hell no, i'm no liar!" he deflected, raising his voice to match donghyuck's, then he brought it down "i was still technically reading...her texts."

donghyuck bursted out into joyous laughter, eventually leading renjun to follow.

but as their laughing died down, renjun exhaled. "hyuck, i really like her," he sighed, looking off into the distance.

the purple headed man couldn't help but to attack his friend with a hug. he was actually very happy for renjun, and for just this moment, he forgot all about his previous problems.
