It is late afternoon, everything is silent. Meredith stands at the nurse's desk and completes a patient file. It's a normal day. Owen comes up to her with Teddy, her cell phone in Teddy's hand. Meredith is so deeply involved in her file that she doesn't notice them at all. But finally they stop next to her. Owen looks at her seriously. Meredith notices the two and looks up. He says: "We have to talk!" There is a sound in his voice that means nothing good. Meredith looks at Owen with a questioning look.
Meredith looks at Teddy, who stands silently next to Owen. Meredith asks: "What is there?"
Owen takes a quick look towards the treatment room. Meredith understands and follows him. He takes Teddy's cell phone and disappears behind the door with Meredith. She wants to know: "What happened?" Owen shows her the cell phone. Meredith frowns. He asks her what she sees. She looks at the cell phone. "A photo!", She replies shortly. "Please take a closer look!" He says and puts the cell phone in her hand. "What should I see there?" Her view focuses on the photo. He tells:"Teddy got it from a former military colleague! It shows him, with his friends in the veteran home in Uta!"
"OK?" She replies questioningly. She doesn't quite understand what to do with this information.
"Please tell me I'm not wrong!" Owen gets nervous. "It's nice, but what should I do with it now?" Ask her. Meredith takes a closer look. Suddenly she freezes. Her eyes widen and her view seem almost doubtful to see what she believes.Your eyes become narrow slits. Owen asks: "Do you think the same thing I think?" Meredith is startled and is stunned: "That cannot be? It is simply not possible!" Her hands start to shake, her voice shows the excitement. The photo shows four people in the foreground. One of the men sits at the table and smiles. But it is not these men in the foreground that arouse Meredith's interest, but much more, someone in the background. Hardly visible, there is a man sitting on a chair against a wall. His hair has grown long, almost to the chin, the tangled beard covers almost his entire face. It is his eyes that awaken something in her, something she thought she had long forgotten. They are memories, memories that bring pictures in her eyes, memories of a past time. Those eyes looking at the camera, questioning, thoughtful, empty, and tired.
Her heart beats fast. "I don't know either, I can't say it exactly!" She looks questioningly at Owen. "If I show Alex?", she asks, but she seems to be talking to herself more. "Can you send me the photo?" , she asks and pulls out her own cell phone. "Sure!", Owen replies. With the picture on her cell phone, she hurries along the corridors. Alex is treating a little patient. Meredith looks through the small window at the door and waves back and forth on her cell phone. Alex looks at the door and wonders about Meredith's strange behavior. After he's done, he opens the door and looks at it in confusion. "What's wrong with you? I got it, you have a cell phone! Do you want to tell me something specific or why are you acting like a madman?", he asks sarcastically. Meredith rolls her eyes. "Look at that!" she said, showing him the phone. A little overwhelmed, he grabs his cell phone and looks at her with a cheeky grin. "And what do I see there?", he asks bored.
