The Night of the Soul

CHAPTER 6

Maya was not able to move, she went numb, "What? He died? How do you know that? How can you be so sure?!" Ari straightened herself and spoke, "You'll see tomorrow's news and understand." She walked away and entered the house.

??? POV (behind a tree)-

"The history is repeating again. Be safe Maya and Ari, you don't know what mess you've got yourself into. This is just the beginning, you've to a lot to see ahead."

Maya couldn't believe what Ari said she ran into the house and slam the door of their room shut after entering, "We should inform the police, before the things get worse!" Ari turned quickly and put a hand on maya's mouth, "Would you be quiet? You don't know what has happened? And there's no use of telling the police cuz they themselves are involved in this." 

Maya sat on the bed eyes wide open, "What should we do?" Ari was leaning against the window with her arms crossed, "We uncover the truth of this town." 

Maya looks at her in disbelief, "HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND?! We can't be involved in this mess anymore, it will get us in grave danger." Ari walked towards Maya and whispered getting close to her face, "We got ourselves involved the exact time we saw the chaos and blood."

The next morning news telecasted the murder of Mr. Luther as suicide as per the evidence found and the actual tension started when the reporter informed the place where the body was found, "The suicide was committed near the religious chloral lake." Maya's eyes went wide, 'But I saw the blood in the dungeon' she looked over to Ari who had a poker face as if she already knew this would happen.

 "OH MY GOD! A suicide attempt that also near the religious lake." Emma hands started fidgeting as soon as she heard the news, "Calm down honey, its fine as long it's not a murder." Ari and Maya's eyes diverted to their father, 'We wished the same father.'

Girls were on their way to school when on the way they met Lucy, "Hey, Lucy." Lucy smiled at them and waved, "Hey did you heard today's news. I still can't believe it, they say if the lake is contaminated then it..." 

"It brings grief to the town. We know" Ari interrupted, Lucy looked at her, "Yeah right."

They parted their ways and went to their classes, as soon as Maya sat on her desk she saw a note under her desk, and it read 'You know something right? About the old man? Denying won't help cuz I saw you.' 

Maya felt cold sweat forming on her forehead and a chill down her spine, she looked around but it didn't felt like someone was looking at her or observing her. The class ended she went to her locker and as she opened it she saw note stuck there with tape, 'Meet me near the cemetery at 6 pm sharp, you come late and you miss me.' Nervousness showed up on Maya's face.

Maya went to the cemetery at 6 sharp and saw a guy with a mask standing in the mid of the cemetery, "I'm here. Now tell me what do you want?" 

He started laughing and said, "I didn't thought I was right but you cleared my doubt by coming here. Let's get down to business then, I want you to gather info regarding this case for me and report me." Maya frowned, "look I don't wanna be involved in this anymore." The guy scoffed, "you were already involved when entered the house.", he showed a picture to her of her and Ari sitting with Mr. Luther in the cemetery.

 The thought of Ari came in her mind, 'she said the same thing' "The guy who works at the cemetery knows your face, listen if you do what I tell you then your secret lies with me. And you know the consequences if this leaks out right?" Maya looked down and gave it a thought, "okay".
