It was evening when Maya picked up her phone and dialed a number,
"Hey."
From the other side, joey replied in his deep voice, "I was waiting for you to call."
Maya smiled on the other side and like that their conversation went on for hours.
Maya looked at the clock and it was past eight by now, "well I think we've had a long talk for today so..."
Joey sighed, "yeah your right time flies so fast, see you tomorrow at school then."
Maya nodded and they both hung up.
Well she wanted to talk about his sister but didn't even wanna make him uncomfortable so she thought to skip the topic but now it's clear that this matter is a lot messed up than they thought. Are they digging their own grave?
The school ended, Maya and Lucy were walking outside the school when Ari came running to Maya and held her hand stopping her in her tracks,
"Maya! All the people who went into the woods never returned, their bodies were also not found and most importantly it is said that they willing went there, Wah! I can't believe this I mean people in the town didn't even make any contribution in finding them or look into this issue."
Maya replied with an annoyed face, "Obviously, Lockhart would have fitted some shitty philosophy in their heads."
Lucy was listening to their conversation carefully and thought to step in, "Well father Carnell did warn us all to not enter the woods to prevent an increase of these cases, but why you are both so much into this? And why do you have a bad image of the father in your mind?"
Maya and Ari looked at each other wide-eyed and broke into an awkward laugh, "haha aha nooo! There's nothing like that we were just generally talking really!" and like that they both left waving at Lucy leaving her alone at the gate.
"These both seriously are up to something for sure, they are acting weird." Lucy's doubt begin which was soon going to make her fall into the mess those sisters were already in.
Maya and Ari reached home, "whoa! That was close."
Ari kept her hand on her heart and took a breath,
"Next time PLEASE LOOK AROUND YOU AND THEN SPEAK."
Ari pursed her lips, "Yah! Even you mentioned about father Carnell in front of her, don't put all the blame on me!"
they both were arguing when their mom entered the arena and held both of their ears, "enough of your fights!" both of them were groaning in pain.
"Act like sisters for once and now apologize to each other. NOW!" Both of them looked at each other, "Sorry."
"Better, now freshen up and come down for lunch"
They both were focusing on their studies when Ari noticed a crowd going in the direction of the lake soon their family also joined them to see what has caused such a ruckus and after what they didn't only send a shiver through their spine but would haunt them in their dreams for the rest of the days.
A dead body of a young lady was drowning in the lake, not only that but the thing that terrified everyone was the message left behind on the ground written in blood.
'Those who try to cross their limits and try to interfere in the matters of nature would perish and pay the price with their life.'
