Maya and Ari couldn't sleep at night as the words of the old man kept running through their mind all night long.
"OH MY GOD! What has happened to both of your eyes dear? Were you studying all night long? You should be going easy on yourself, it's just the start of the semester."
Emma had eyes filled with concern and the moment Maya was going to open her mouth Ari held her arm and took the charge, "We just don't want to disappoint you both by taking it lightly." Emma was overwhelmed by her words, "Oh don't worry about us, I know how capable and smart you both are. You will surely do well."
The sisters waited for their mother to leave the room and after the door shut Ari went to Maya and whispered, "We should be quiet about what happened yesterday at the cemetery, it will only lead to the fall of more questions and will make mom and dad worried."
Maya nodded in agreement, "I know, on top of that we don't even know if what he said was true or not."
Ari suddenly held Maya by her shoulders and said, "How about we find out?"
"Alright as decided we will leave our house at sharp 6 pm, okay?" Maya just nodded but inside she was pretty not sure whether it was a good idea.
Maya was standing in the hallway busy organizing her thoughts when she suddenly felt a hand over her shoulder, "Hey!" Maya flinched a bit and noticed that it was none other than Lucy, "You should stop scaring me so often." Lucy reacted casually, "Yeah and you should stop blacking out in between the hallways." "I didn't blackout, I was organizing my thoughts." Lucy stopped in her tracks and looked at her, "Your thoughts? Plural?" a smile appeared on Maya's face after hearing that, "Let's go we'll get late for class." She pulled Lucy along with her.
Maya found a friend in this strange town.
Maya and Ari stepped out of the house at 6 pm just like they decided. Maya just stood near the door looking at her sister who looked like someone going on an adventure Ari stopped walking when she noticed the absence of Maya, she turned around to see her standing near the door, "What? Are you not coming?" Maya folded her arms near her chest and asked, "Why are you carrying a backpack?" Ari looked at her back and realized, "Oh! This is for emergency cases, you don't know what might happen while we try to uncover the truth." Maya nodded, "Yeah you're right, we might run into the soul eater." Ari understood the sarcasm in Maya's tone.
The first place they begin with was the cemetery where they went to the person in charge of the cemetery, "Excuse me, we want to know something about the person with surname 'Luther', they came here yesterday." Maya took the charge of speaking as being the elder sister.
"What do you want to know about the man?" Ari interrupted the conversation, "Address will do?" "Can I know who you are and what your relations with this man are?" Maya and Ari looked at each other and Maya as being in charge replied, "Actually sir, we're his granddaughters who wish to see him but because his relations with our family are not so good hence we're not allowed to see him but he is our grandfather you see, so can you do us a favor by telling us where he lives?" Ari started her emotional outburst by falling on her knees, "Please! Sir! We beg you, we haven't seen him for years and wish to visit him before we leave!" the man was speechless and was forced to give them the address.
"Never thought my acting skills will come in handy one day." Ari wiped off her fake tears and Maya couldn't help but smile.
They reached the place and rang the bell but to their surprise, the door was already open, they looked at each other with doubt and finally entered. They saw that a broken vase was on the floor, "Hello, Mr. Luther are you here?" they saw the kitchen was in mess, all the utensils were scattered on the floor and even the table cloth was uneven. There was a backdoor from which Ari peeked out and saw Mr. Luther's shoe (apparently), "Maya something happened to Mr. Luther. We need to find him."
Looks like their curiosity is going to lead them to something big. Would it turn out to be adventurous or dangerous?
