Maya and Ari came back home running and couldn't breathe when Ari notices,

"Sis, where's the flashlight?"

Maya looks at her empty hands and then at Ari who is quivering with fear equally as hers,

"Shit."

Father Carnell's POV-

I can't help but smile, "I have to respect the guts"

I couldn't help but laugh hysterically at the thought of having those girls under my palm.

Them lying on the cold alter unconscious, sweating, and panting, begging me to spare them and looking at me with their lifeless eyes and their blood flowing out of their bodies like a river while having the knife piercing their lungs and scarring their heart.

My eyes glimmer at the thought of that fantasy coming true. I look at the moon and then flip the hourglass on the table.

"Tik.Tok.Tik.Tok"

A smug appears on my face with the thought of experiencing strangling a little life with my hands as my veins become visible and their neck snaps like a twig.

"You don't know how happy you have made me by gifting me this opportunity to experience this alluring and relishing feeling again after so many years!"

"I'm so grateful that I will grant you with the most bewitching and ravishing....... DEATH."

End of POV.

Maya's POV-

I enter the class and notice a note under my desk,

'meet me at cemetery at 6pm'

I face-palm myself realizing that I almost forgot about this person.

I reach the cemetery and find him again standing near a tree,

"I thought u wouldn't come..... knowing what happened recently."

"I don't want to get arrested, remember?"

"yeah, so what do you have for me?"

After what has happened I can't really trust anyone including him, I better keep things to myself.

"Nothing much, I've been focusing more on school stuff didn't get time to explore much."

"You seriously want me to buy that?"

I couldn't see his face but he sure made face of 'I'm not dumb'

He started walking closer towards me,

"I.AM.NOT.PLAYING.HERE"

And looked at me as if he could stare right into my soul, for some reason he felt familiar.

His built, his arms, his shoulders, his posture and his ......... scent; it was like cinnamon and vanilla. Felt like I know him but also don't know him at all.

"Who are you?"

He stepped back and walked past me,

"Next time I won't take 'nothing' for an answer"

I sigh and return home, I find Ari sitting on the study table,

"looks like someone's studying hard."

I move closer and peek to find that she was reading the texts we stole from the cathedral.

Ari looks up at me, "There is a chance that maybe Father Carnell is not the real souleater but just a medium or conduit."

I frown,

"What do you mean?"

Ari brings up the page with the sign on it, "this sign, I started researching about it as I got curious and went to the public library to find more about it and in a book related to these mythological creatures, I found that the Soul eater is capable of manipulating and possessing souls of others, they have pale skin and black hollowed out eyes and this particular sign might appear on the person which connects them with the world of the living and helps them prey."

This shit was a lot bigger than we imagined and way serious, it involved people, especially innocents.

We jumped in thinking it was just a puddle but it turned out to be a quicksand which we were being engulfed in as much as we struggled getting out.

"The sacrifices that are made are always made on full moon light as their power is at its peak at that time."

"When is the next new moon?"

"Second week of the next month."

"Then we don't have much time left, we gotta work fast"

"And we have to be careful...... very careful."
