Standing Alone

Part 10

I finally relax when harry is brought in. I was assured that he would be fine and that he was just exhausted from using so much energy. Once I felt better, I left the hospital wing and went looking for Professor Snape.

I found him in the potions room reading.

"I'm sorry professor." I say when I enter

"Are you now?" he asks looking up at me

I nod

"Yes, I didn't mean to put myself in danger." I explain

"You did one thing right." He states and I look at him confused

"What was that?" I ask

"You did come to me first." he states and I smile

"How complicated is wolfsbane?" I ask curious

Professor shakes his head

"I had a feeling you would be asking." he opens his book to show me the instructions

"Whoa, this had to take up a lot of your time." I say as I read the page

"Luckily I had an assistant." He states

"That makes sense now, you having me proof read essays." I muse

"Yes, but now I suggest getting some sleep. It's been a long eventful night and you need rest." Professors suggests

"Goodnight, professor" I say and leave

A few days later I felt confident enough to approach Professor Lupin.

"Holly, I'm glad to see you." He says when I walk into the classroom.

"I was hoping I would be able to finish some of that conversation." I say nervously

"Sit, please." he says and I sit in the chair across from him.

"You may have already heard it, but yes I was named your godfather." He confesses

"I don't fully understand." I state

"I suppose it is a bit complicated." Lupin replies standing

"Lily felt it would be safer to have two godparents. Also, she knew I would never be allowed guardianship over either of you being a werewolf in all. So, she named Sirius Harry's godfather and I was named yours." Lupin explains

"So, you're my godfather but you can't legally take me?" I ask

"In a sense you are correct. The ministry fears that I would lose control and ultimately kill someone in my care." Lupin states

"Wait can you only take guardianship of me and not Harry?" I ask

"If I was legally allowed to have guardianship, then yes I would only be granted you. Unless something happened to Sirius then I would get Harry too." Remus explains

"Like if Sirius was an escaped prisoner?" I ask

"Exactly like that." Lupin chuckles

"I wish you could take us." I say quietly

"Me too. I would love nothing more than to have you and Harry in my care." Lupin admits

"You're not going to be here next year, are you?" I ask sadly

"I fear not. I don't think parents will take too kindly having a werewolf professor." Lupin states

"Will I ever see you again?" I ask

"I'm sure we'll meet again, and you can always write to me." Lupin assures

"Okay." I smile

"Until we meet again, Holly" Lupin says solemnly
